The black SUV with my mate in it disappeared into the distance. It was only Harriet and me now. Harriet's arm wrapped around my waist, and I leaned my head on her shoulder. We stood there for a few moments like two statues in the chilly Autumn breeze.

"So only we know?" Harriet broke the stillness that had settled over us.

"That's how Orion wanted it." I sighed as I watched a few pack members walk past the packhouse on the sidewalk. All of them were oblivious to the fact that their Alpha and Beta had left to play Sherlock Holmes and Watson. A mother walked by, heading towards the shops, hand in hand with her curly-haired son, who was talking vividly with his hand. Two teenage girls were giggling as they walked into the coffee shop.
