Chapter 27

Lucas looked at the empty bedside table and felt that something was missing.

It took quite a while before it registered to him that the photo was missing. The photo of him and Chelsey.

The last time he came back, he had made it a point to give the photo a good look. That photo had been taken when he had lost his sight. It was also the only photo he had taken during the time that he lost his sight.

"Where's the photo?" he asked.

"I burned it," Chelsey answered flippantly.

"Why'd you burn it?" Lucas' gaze sharpened. If anyone were to burn the photo, it should have been him.

"I didn't want it anymore, so I burned it." Chelsey pondered things over for a moment before sitting up and walking out.

"Where are you going?" Lucas asked with a frown.

"I'll go sleep in the guest room. You can have the master bedroom to yourself."

And with that, she walked out of the bedroom and shut the door behind her. Moments later, the sound of the guest room door being shut was heard.
