Chapter 29

Late that night when Josie was finally fast asleep, Lucas shot Chelsey a meaningful glance. They got out of the ward one after another and had a talk in the corridor outside.

Lucas looked straight ahead and said gloomily, "With my mom in such a condition, we can only talk about the divorce in a month's time. I hope that we can get through one more month so that she won't have to worry about us. I'll give you an extra ten million dollars as reimbursement when we get the divorce."

Chelsey responded calmly, "I don't care about the money. I married you to repay your kindness. I don't mind waiting an extra month."

Chelsey was using her gratitude to cover up her true feelings for him. She did not want to admit that she had loved him. Perhaps it was best for both of them if she'd never loved him.

When he heard that, Lucas turned to look at Chelsey. His gaze was deep and bottomless, like it held the entire universe in it. "I don't remember ever saving you."
