Chapter Fifty-One.

From the thatched hole bored into the ceiling came water droplets that fell into a bucket of water, halfway full. The pitter-patter noises echoed through the otherwise silent room as Samantha passed her gaze back and forth Emily and her daughter, Holly.

But soon interrupting that peace was a phone call—a call she thought at first was from Colton, maybe to tell her he'd gotten a hold of Ryan. But this one was different.

Hesitantly, she picked the call from the unknown number as she sat up in her chair, only hear the shrieking whispers that came from a voice that sounded like Patricia. An arch came between her brows, the call drawing Holly's attention.

"Patricia?" She called through the breaking line.

And it didn't clear until a minute later that Pat broke the news. "I screwed up" She muttered, leaning into the one phone booth in the station and Elena stood right in front of her.
