Chapter Fifty.

In a place where tall tree branches stretched towards the blanket of stars across the skies, Colton swerved his car tyres through the snowed grounds and further into the woods.

His windows were down with his wiper in action across his wind-shield. Peering his head out, he was in search of the footsteps of a six year old and once he did find them, he was sure he was on the right track.

The headlights illuminated the dry winter trees on this part of town as the car slowly jerked forward. He could feel his heart race hearing from a distance what seemed to be the howling of wolves or stray wild dogs.

“Ryan” He yelled from inside of the car.

“Ryan!”

The boy, who the other searched for had fallen beneath a shed, his arms holding himself tightly as he shivered. He’d left behind his blanket, allowing the flakes of snow to settle and numb his skin. Ryan almost fell asleep—except it wasn’t really a nap. It was like the loss of consciousness kind of sleep.
