CHAPTER 1

One may find it interesting attending a werewolf school, because you will get to experience shifting and get to use special abilities blessed onto you by the moon.

But it wasn't like that for Atarah, she was distinct.... completely different from her werewolf mates. Atarah stared at the white board almost lifelessly, the man who stood in front lecturing the whole class looked like he was mid thirties but in reality he was over seventy.

He was one of the elites scouts in the pack but he devoted a lot his time teaching the next generation, someone had too. They call them guardians.

He was tall, brown hair and eyes and well built.

"There are 12 month-tribes blessed by the moon, who can tell me a few months and their affinities?"

This was common knowledge, anyone could intuitively guess this.

Everyone except for Larry, that sluggish moron seated at the back corner, he couldn't recite the alphabets correctly if his life depended on it. Maybe, she hyperbolized that a little bit but truly he was just a stupid big dumb oak.

"Sir, why don't you ask the only book-weeb here?" He mocked and some of his lackwits chuckled with him.

They sounded like old broken records to Atarah.

Boris closed the material he was teaching from and sighed tiredly.

"Larry, you ought to concentrate more in class and If any of you is to make the pack, not only should be able to control your transformation but you should also be knowledgeable on the outside world and the society."

"But guardian, what's the point? The trial is all we need to pass to make it to the pack right?." One of students asked immediately after raising up her hand.

Boris signed tiredly again, he had explained this several times but these wild hormonal younglings didn't seem to listen or understand.

His eyes landed on Atarah and she could tell what he was thinking of.

'Nope, no way! I am definitely not going to do this.' she said to herself inwards as she averted her gaze from him but he called on her name.

"Atarah, could you answer that beautiful question, I asked earlier?" he asked politely, it was like he was torturing her. He knew that the others were always being unfair to her, of course he never allowed anything extreme to happen to her, at least during classes.

Atarah stood up slowly, there was nothing beautiful about that question anyway. Anyone of these numb skulls could easily read a book or something to get the answer.

"The twelve months of a year ranging from January to December all have different affinities when the moon shines out, for example those born on the month of May are regarded as fire wolves or maybe august as lightning wolves......."

That was enough, Atarah could proudly sit down and take a rest, avoid being in the spotlight but a foolish grin formed on her face and she continued.

"There are currently five different tribes of wolves living together with us to form a society, they are wild wolves which were regarded as the month April, the fire wolves, the lightning wolves, ghost wolves which have the month July and lastly February which are the storm wolves.......... According to the ancient texts, wolves normally born on any of the twelve months receive a special blessings from the moon but that is no longer the case and nobody knows why."

So, currently any wolf born on a particular month doesn't receive the moon's blessings but the genes of their parents.

'That was so petty.' her mind giggled.

She sat down carefully looking around her as glaring eyes were on her and she gave Larry a quick glance.

'How's that for a book-weeb.' she said inwardly.

"That was perfect, Atarah. I say this every time, if everyone here was as studious her, we would have moved on to the next phase ages ago." Boris said tiredly.

As the only human in this society, it was pretty obvious that the only thing you could do with all your time was study, while others tried to manifest their inner beast or wait patiently for their awakening or practice drills or combat lessons.

Atarah studied as much as could, she read about werewolves, vampires, witches and other supernatural creatures but she was always interested in humans.

They populated a large portion of the planet and they built civilization, they had mysterious technical machines called technology, things like a car which could reach top speeds on the roads and planes, which soar high in skies like a bird and huge surfing objects on the seas called ships.

Their society was isolated from the humans and hidden, on an island far away from them but, the pack could get into the human world easily by activating the teleportation ruins.

They were ancient stones fuel with magical power and potential, the witches offered the wolves the ruins for an alliance, hundreds of years ago but nobody knows when that deal was broken.

All we knew now was that, it was an hostile world out there but Atarah didn't care, It's not like she fitted here anyway.

Atarah continued to drown in her thoughts until Tiana,. her seat mate with smooth short black hair and light brown eyes by her right side asked an intriguing question.

"Guardian Boris, Are we wolves truly more dominant than humans?"

"By more dominant, you mean stronger.......I take it right?" Boris asked trying to confirm her question.

"Yes, because if we wolves are stronger than humans then why aren't we more than them?.........why aren't we the ones populated around the Earth?..............Why aren't the humans here on this island or spread wide over the earth hunted and discriminated?"

Atarah gave Tiana a smile, it was truly a fascinating question.

"Yeah, she is right. Why aren't we the ones?" A student spoke and others joined molding into murmurs, it nearly escalated into a fray but Boris, silenced everyone.

"Quiet!!!" His loud tone resonated with everyone's ears and silence dominated the class.

Even without enhanced hearing, Atarah could hear the commingle breathing of others around her.

"The answer to your question is complex, that means it's simple and at the same time hard." His brown eyes scanned the room as if it was looking for someone, it landed on Atarah and she nearly squealed.

She assumed that Boris might call her to answer this but he skipped her and began answering.

"It is the same reason why vampires and witches aren't ruling the world right now."

That was simple but yet puzzling.

"How are we sure they aren't doing that?" This question came from Amon, one of the prominent Beta's son on the island. He was seated two seats from Atarah's right side.

"That's a different question entirely." Boris

 answered and continued.

"We supernatural beings don't have the numbers to take over the human world, even though we can turn humans into werewolves through bite or other unconventional means, it still doesn't mean they will follow our agenda and it's dangerous, Humans are never really to be trusted." He said those words like he had experienced anguish from them before.

About half the class had enigmatic expressions on their faces and he sighed tiredly.

"Just think of it like this, lions are stronger than humans right?........ Bears are also stronger than humans but despite their strength, they are still on the bottom of the food chain. The answer isn't always dominance." His attempt to try and simplify his answer did justice for a small majority of the class but left Atarah bewildered at his statement.

'Isn’t that because their brains are less developed?' she questioned herself.

Other factors played a heavy stead in answering Tia's question but it didn’t look like Boris was going into it.

Boris ended the class for the day leaving the classroom, he packed some books into a bag but before he left the classroom. A voice stopped him.

"Guardian Boris, could I borrow those materials from you please?" She asked politely and he happily took it out from the bag and offered it to Atarah.

"Be sure to return it in good condition." He said mechanically and followed his next docket.

Atarah returned back to her seat to store the book in her bag.

"Oh woah, look at that. it's book face over here." Atarah was slightly irritated at Larry who mocked her for using her brain.

"You know what Larry, if you had just an ounce of sense..... You wouldn't mock the Alpha's daughter." Atarah threatened him and he stood up walking towards her.

"Do you want to fight me?"

"Far from it." She said tastelessly and Tiana sighed.

"Larry, stop and cease provoking her. You could get in trouble."

"Like you care, chest nut." Larry insulted her breast size and Tiana flared up, her eyes blazing with fury.

"What did you say? You numbskull!!!"

“What you gonna do about it!”

Some of the members left in the class watched quietly from their seats without interfering with the situation except for one.

"Could you keep it quiet, I am trying to concentrate." Amon said without looking away from his book on his table.

"Oh, look guys. it's Mr. cool kid." Larry mocked him but only him laughed at his joke. It was quite sad.

"You know Larry, if you were twice as smart, you would still be foolish." Amon said calmly still without looking at him.

"What the fuck did you say to me?" Everyone knew at this moment, things could get physical.

Amon sighed tiredly, feeling enervated.

"Here we go again, as sharp as a bowling ball." Atarah slowly chuckled but yet it grew to a loud laughter.

Her laughter grew the attention of the class members and Tiana had to ask.

"What's a bowling ball?" Atarah seized her laughter and whispered into Tiana ear.

"Oh my......." Tiana chuckled and decided pack her bags, it was perhaps foolish to fight Larry. You had greater chances reasoning with a rock.

"You bastard, you said something funny didn't you?" He threw a heavy blow towards Amon but he avoided it easily.

"Don't waste your time, I am a lightning wolf, the fastest of all wolves. You would have greater chances catching air than touching me."

Seeing how a majority of the class was staring at him and how he was humiliated, for the first time Larry yielded and decided to walk out of the class angry with his crew.

But everyone in the class had feeling that this wasn't over.
