CHAPTER 6

"I'm not ...........What makes you think that I'm playing with her emotions?" He changed his words clearly without stammering.

She had clearly caught him off guard due to the nature of her question, he wasn't expecting it. He knew that this was going to be about Tiana because of the way, she eyed him since they got to amphitheatre.

He always noticed those subtle movements but he was oblivious to it, he was clearly aware of Tiana feelings but he didn't want her.

"You can't tell me that you aren't aware of Tiana feelings, she is displaying it towards you with every chance that she has." Atarah said to Amon, while folding her arms beneath her breast.

"I don't read body language so well and infact, she hasn't confessed anything to me, like she likes me or wants me or something." Amon said to her respectfully.

Since Amon and Tiana had started talking, she hasn't said anything about asking him out just displaying her emotions to her and hoping that he will take charge.

"But you know that she likes you huh?" Atarah asked this simple question instead of playing a stupid long game.

Amon averted his gaze from her own and She got her answer, but she wanted to hear it from his mouth.

"..............It's a rather difficult position that you're putting me into, if I say No.....then your friend cries and our social circle breaks apart but if I say yes, i will eventually become frustrated with myself due to my own dishonesty." Amon broke down each option to Atarah and she knew that he was right, but this was her friend she needed to help her but at the same, the logical part of herself knew that there was nothing to be done.

He didn't like Tiana as much as she liked him, it was just as elementary as that.

"Why don't feel the same way as Tiana?" She decided to ask this question, but it was futile to continue to press on.

He hummed for a moment, as if in thoughts and when he opened his mouth. His eyes hastily reacted to a movement unknown to Atarah but she saw the movement of his eyes.

"What's wrong?" She asked him with a slight hint of worry in her tone.

"We're not alone." He answered her simply, the amphitheatre was built close to the main city of the werewolves on the island and due to that fact, it was surrounded by trees that might impair ordinary human vision but werewolves had enhanced sight so, it didn't matter to them.

"It's odd, everyone apart from maybe a few scouts is supposed to be in amphitheatre watching the trials." Amon said simply, he began to follow the unknown figures he spotted.

Atarah wanted to follow him but at the same time, she felt annoyed at the whole situation. This wasn't supposed to happen, she was just supposed to help her friend and that was it, but now we are following unknown figures to who knows where.

"Do you know where they are going to?" She asked Amon in a quiet tone and he shook his head.

"No..." he replied her in the same tone, the people they followed didn't seem aware of their presence, there were about three figures, all dressed in full black gear, even their heads were of no exceptions of their dressing.

One of the figures in black pulled out something from his pitch black bag and carefully set the a rectangular device which emitted a small red light before he began to cover it with sand.

The others separated from him, some went towards the city and some went towards the walls of the amphitheatre and began to set devices on them.

Neither Amon or Atarah knew what they were setting up but, own thing was clear to Amon.

"I didn't recognize it until now, these are humans." He whispered to Atarah whose eyes widened for a moment.

What were humans doing here? They shouldn't be there unless called upon by the Alpha, it was all odd and sketchy and Atarah didn't like what they were setting up on the wall of the amphitheatre.

"I don't like this, we have to do something. These humans aren't supposed to be here." Atarah said to Amon who nodded his head.

"We have to stop them." Atarah added and Amon nodded again.

Atarah tried to move but Amon stopped her by griping her hand.

"What do you intend to do?" He asked her wondered if she was going to fight them.

"Well, we have to do something." That was all she said and Amon sighed.

"You should probably head back and contact some scouts or guardians, they will know what to do. I can stop them easily, they are humans after all." He sounded confident in abilities, he was lightning wolf which was by far the fastest wolves blessed by the goddess of the moon.

Atarah glanced at both Amon and the black figure alternatively for a moment before nodding her head.

"Be safe then, don't forget we aren't done yet." she was referring to the conversation concerning Tiana.

Atarah departed from Amon and she began running, her breathing began heavier and faster as she increased her pace.

She had to reach any of the scouts or guardians which were probably back at the main city or towards the edge.

she paced her way into the forest and then she had chattering not so far from her direction and she lost focused in which her foot got caught in between tree root and she crashed into the ground heavily.

"What was that?" One of the men with fully armoured military gear, in jet black reacted.

He began walking slowly and carefully towards her direction, Atarah covered her mouth and slowed her breathing.

She gave a quick glance to her twisted ankle and gritted her teeth, she was immobile for now.

"It was probably just nothing, we should focus on the mission, we don't have much time." Atarah heard another word and sighed with relief.

She heard the sounds of footsteps moving and then it vanished, she waited for a moment before struggling to stand up.

She struggled to remain straight but her tenacity prevailed and she began moving slowly.

"Damn that tree." She cursed the thick root that messed up her leg, she was still tens of minutes away from the main city and even more towards the edge, she couldn't stop now to rest or look at her ankle. Who knew what those humans in black were setting up?

Atarah leaned against her lean as she took deep breaths, she gazed at her ankle again.

"Damn it." She struggled to move again and before a sharp voice stopped her.

"Stop right there!!!!"

She wanted to turn around to see who that was but fear prickled her heart, she felt her stomach churned and all of sudden goosebumps took over her skin.

"Are you alone?" Another voice asked her, it was somehow unsettling not seeing who was behind her.

"Y........ ye........" She couldn't give the proper reply, if the answer was yes, would they kill her? or capture her?

She didn't know what to say.

"Answer the fucking question!?" A stern voice shouted at her and she shivered.

"Yes!" She didn't even realize when she lost control of her mouth, the answer just spilled out from her quivering tongue.

"Good, kill her. Use your knife, don't waste a bullet." Before she could recognize the meaning of those words, she felt a steel cold knife close to her throat and she closed her eyes shut in fear.

It was like her senses had shut down, she didn't see anything, feel anything or hear anything. She wondered if she was already dead, it was all pitch black.

The man should have sliced her throat by now or was she in bound for eternal anguish of torment which humans described as Hell?

"Ari........... Ari........wake up." She heard a sweet familiar voice and her eyes opened slowly to see a figure holding her in his arms.

"Ala......ric." It was a weak tone but It was enough for Alaric who had thought the worse had fallen upon her.
