I was jolted awake by the sounds of chanting and the feeling of something wet on my forehead and my eyes fluttered open to see Hazel's eyes glaze over as she conversed with the ancestors while applying a liquid over my head.

A smile almost lifted my lips as I saw Hazel was okay. I was still yet not able to thank her for saving me, but that could wait. Hazel wasn't Hazel right now.

Her whole aura sent a chill down my back, and her eyes were filled with a darkness that couldn't be explained. This is what Xander spoke about.

I wonder if we were too late.

My back was against a slab, and my hands were tied away from each other, and so were my legs. I resembled a starfish. But what alarmed me the most was the sight of my exposed belly.

Hazel had painted words over them.

"What are you doing, Hazel?" I asked, rushing out my question in fear.
