One hundred and Four

Seth

It was almost nightfall by the time we got to an opening. Aubrey chose the right path, and after shooting her a thankful glance, I shot out to the opening, searching for a cottage, like Xander had said.

"It's not that far from here, I'll lead the way." Xander said, leading the way into the woods.

I followed right behind him, the soldiers walking right after us, all of them watching out for any danger ahead.

Connor was right behind us, Aubrey beside him.

We walked deeper in the woods, my mind clouded by worry with each step we took. What if I was too late? What if they've killed her for the ritual?

What if they've done something to her?

As if hearing my thoughts, Connor placed a hand on my shoulder, offering me a nod, his eyes filled with warmth as he said, "Don't worry, Seth. We would find her soon."

I gave him a nod in return, unable to return the warmth and all, because I was lacking it. I was lacking all hope.

I failed her. Something might happen to her because I failed her
