Xander’s Pov

As Miles quietly slips out of the room, leaving us alone in a cocoon of silence, I gather my thoughts, steeling myself for what comes next. The air between us is thick with unspoken words, each moment stretching out like an eternity as we both wait for the other to speak.

Finally, unable to bear the weight of the silence any longer, Allegra breaks the tension, her voice trembling with uncertainty. “I apologize for the way I reacted,” she says, her words pouring out in a rush. “I never expected to be your mate.
