Chapter One hundred and five

Xander's Pov

As I slip out of Allegra's room in the early hours of the morning, the weight of responsibility settles heavily on my shoulders. I can't help but steal one last glance at her sleeping form, her peaceful expression stirring something deep within me. She's so beautiful, and I feel a surge of gratitude towards the moon goddess for bringing her into my life. But as grateful as I am, I can't shake the gnawing fear in the pit of my stomach. How do I open up to her? My past, filled with loss and pain, has left me guarded and closed off, and I'm not sure if Allegra will understand.

Lost in my thoughts, I'm startled by a voice behind me. “Going somewhere?” Richard's voice cuts through the silence, and I turn to see him grinning at me, amusement dancing in his eyes. I feel a pang of embarrassment at being caught sneaking out of Allegra's room, but Richard's laughter puts me at ease. “What do you want, Richard?” I ask, trying to hide my irritation.
