CHAPTER 30

We jumped apart at the sound of the knock at the door.

I coughed into my elbow and she awkwardly went to the door.

Reluctantly, she opened the door to answer whoever was there.

With surprise on her face, she stepped to let the person in.

Lo and behold, it was the same person we had been talking about that stepped into the room.

Immediately I saw him I froze up like a deer caught in headlights.

What was he doing in my room at this very moment? Wait! Has he been standing at the other side of the door listening in to our conversations all this time?

Oh my days! I was as red as a cherry right now. This is so embarrassing. Okay, the best thing I could do for both of us was to pretend like I don't know what he's talking about.

If he brings it up, I hope he doesn't bring it up.

“Um, hi– hello. How can I–we help you?” I asked, behind him I saw Riley facepalming at my obvious discomfort.
