Chapter 1

The eve of the full moon was upon my village. And, I could hear the howling sounds of wolves echoing through the forest as they swept through it at great speed.

Before the village bell could be sounded, every family had been cleaned through be the wicked Lycan king and his warriors.

At first, I thought I was dreaming when I heard the sound of my mother crying because I was under my bed, trying to avoid being seen by the Lycan King and his warriors.

A minute later, I could hear another strange screaming inside my room. The screaming was too loud that I had to cover my ears completely with both hands in order to avoid being affected.

By the time the screaming died down, I saw my mother crying as the Lycan king spat on her.

"Where is your daughter?"

The Lycan King's voice was loud, clear and brutal. The more he pressed my mother to reveal my secret location, the more my mother denied my very existence in the room.

"We will be back," the Lycan King said to my mother before leaving to look for other girls around my age who he wanted to capture and take to his kingdom.

My eyes quickly scanned the room as soon as the Lycan king left, while within me, I was secretly praying for something bad to happen to the Lycan king.

Under the bed grew colder as minutes went by without me hearing a single noise in the room. My eyes dart to my mother who was still lying on the floor. Although, she was quiet and still, I could notice how alert she was as she moved her eyes around the room just to make sure that there was no sign of any Lycan warrior and that I was okay.

These aren't normal werewolves. I told myself as I began to imagine the face of the Lycan king. He was like a man made beast who had sworn to make life miserable for the people inside my village and for the people outside my village.

Five slow minutes of silence between me and my mother passed, and I heard more screams ring out loudly as I moved to the side from my resting spot, before making my way over to edge. I glanced in the entrance direction, where the screams were coming from and growing louder. I could see some of the daughters of our new neighbors been taking away by the Lycan King's warriors without any form of remorse.

Their voices was so loud that my mother stood up out of fear and told me to grab my things and run away through the backyard.

"You have to hurry, Angelina. This village is no longer safe for you. You have to hurry!"

I could feel the intensity in my mother's voice as I quickly listened to her, left the under of the bed and grabbed a few stuff from my wardrobe.

Even though my eyesight was poor because of the blinding darkness surrounding the night, I still managed to find my way in the darkness and through the backyard.

Outside, I looked around to make sure that I wasn't been followed by anyone. I knew that I had to be careful if I wanted to leave my village without being discovered by the Lycan king and his warriors.

But being careful was difficult in a time like this when there was so much fear in the heart of people because of the activities of the Lycan king and his warriors.

"Their pace is totally abnormal. They are moving faster than normal werewolves."

I turned to my left as I saw a young girl approaching me. From the look on her face, it was very clear that she was running away from the same thing that I was running away from.

The girl's hands trembled as she moved closer to where I was.

"There are everywhere. And, they want to take me with them." The girl sounded like a madwoman who was so afraid to admit her own madness.

"Be quiet, child, keep your voice down."

"I can't keep my voice down with everything going on around us," the girl looked at me as if she was waiting for me to say something to her.

I did not say anything to her. I just ignored her, and continued walking only for the girl to come closer to me and grab me tightly on my hair.

"Listen to me, carefully. I am now your problem now." The girl stammered, her hands shaking on either side of her face as she slowly let go of my hair and let me breathe for a while.

"What are you talking about?"

"The King is going to kill all of us," the girl says, pushing me away, and running towards the direction of the forest. I hurry after her, wanting to know what she was talking about, but the more I ran in her direction, the faster she ran until it reached a point where I became tired of running and the girl stopped.

"Angelina, hurry if you don't want to be killed!" The girl hissed, and no sooner had she finished her statement, I could see her running again.

I looked down to see the scattered leaves lying on the bare sand. The leaves looked like two shapes of my eyes. There was no more energy left inside of me to continue running to be honest. But, I knew that I had to run in order to avoid whatever was chasing me from behind.

As soon as I was able to gather some energy, I heard a howl behind me. Nothing gingers you to move faster than the sound of fear. Nothing pushes your adrenaline more than the feeling of fear.

I took one step forward as soon as fear hit me like a splash of rainwater. Before I knew what was happening, I felt the dirty nails of the Lycan king on top of my body.

"You think you can run?" The Lycan king was licking his lips in delight. "Your days are numbered, Angelina."
