Kai's POV

“Alpha.”

“Sir.”

I ignored the people trying to speak with me as I strolled purposefully into the pack’s hall, my mind a raging storm.

I had every reason to think Alana was in some sort of trouble back there, but despite my insistence, she still assured me everything was alright.

With her thoughts still floating in my mind, I turned to glance over my shoulder, only to find Adam walking beside me as I continued to stroll down the hallway.

“Do you know what this elder meeting is about?”

“I’m not sure what this could be about, but I’m guessing it has to do with the rising tension at our borders. Two of our warriors were found just this morning.

“Again?” I clenched my hands into fists. I stepped in through the entrance, my aura announcing my presence and bringing the hall murmuring to a stop. All the heads in the room snapped in my direction.

I glared at them in return. Beta Simon, Nadia’s father, and some of the elders in the packed council were already seated at the round table
