Chapter 24

Time passed by.

The rain kept on pouring down until early afternoon. I was afraid that Hogan and I would have to stay here for a long time.

Sitting behind Hogan, I stayed quiet.

[“My dream was to protect the people around me. Including you, Elizabeth.”

“You are already doing it, Hogan. You are protecting me.”]

Ever since I said that Hogan and I stopped talking as if we have our own thoughts that we wanted to keep to ourselves.

The wind blew hard, bringing shivers to my skin. I wrapped my arms around me, hoping it would warm my body. But I was trembling.

Werewolves have naturally warm bodies. But because my wolf wasn’t strong, I was weak against the cold.

“Ahhh, it’s c-cold,” I whispered.

I didn’t expect that Hogan would hear me.

“Are you trembling?” he asked, which I couldn’t answer right away. “If you feel cold, lean on my back.”

“Y-Yes. Thank you,” I said.

I crawled backward and leaned my back against his back.

Once contact was made, there was a blazing fire inside me.
