CHAPTER 58

ANNA KYLIN CHESTER

LISTENING TO THE shrill voice of my sister had been starting to get on my nerves, but I was feeling numb so I let her keep on ranting, trying to rile the crowd up against me.

I was prepared to let her exhaust herself out, but then, to my surprise, Rick came out and defended me. I gave a small pat of appreciation to the nurse who had spoken up for me, then I walked away. The crowd shuffled away nervously, making a wide path for me as I walked past them, and I smiled inwardly. Beth seemed to have forgotten something - I was also Luna with an even stronger root to this pack than she was.

I could hear Rick following me as I went to my suite at the inn where I was staying. I unlocked the door and entered. Sure enough, a few seconds later, Rick came in after me.

"Thank you for what you did," I said.

He shrugged. "I could not have them start to disrespect you..." he said. "That was what Beth wanted to achieve."

I chuckled. Beth wanted something more than disrespect to me
