Chapter 38: Secret (2)

Bernie's POV

A text message suddenly rang in the quiet room, and I reflexively covered Dylan's ear. The person in the chest only slightly frowned, then continued to sleep; I exhaled. At this point, I frowned and reached for the phone on the table. It's only six o'clock in the morning; who doesn't have eyes texting at this hour.

It's so frustrating, but I still open my phone to see. If it's an emergency from the company, Emma won't text; she'll call me. Emma will choose to text during work if it's not urgent, so this is definitely not a work-related message.

Sure enough, the screen showed a message from a high school friend, Chris.

I rummaged through the old memories, a glimpse of the boy who was always beside Dylan. Chris and I weren't that close; at that time, I asked for Chris's number to get to know Dylan better. Chris and I have never contacted each other.

The surprise passed, and I just opened Chris's message to read.

"Do you have free time? I have a big project in Manhattan
