Chapter 4 Don't Ever Return

Amelia did not stay overnight in Bryxton. After she had lunch, John, who had been missing the entire morning, returned and urged her to leave.

He had followed Mr. Prescott’s orders and made sure she returned to her hometown safely. Now, he was carrying out his order to take her to Prescott’s residence.

In any case, Amelia's decisions seemed to be beyond her control. So, she got into the car reluctantly.

"Amelia, since you've married Liam, you should lead a good life with him. Don't be stubborn. Take good care of your home, and never come back again!" Maria cried and shouted as she followed alongside the car.

Peter didn't say much, but he stayed by Maria's side.

"What nonsense are you spewing! That's your granddaughter! She's my niece. The Jenson family raised her so she must come home!" David objected, reprimanding Maria.

Peter turned around angrily, took off his shoe, and threw it at him. "How dare you talk to your mother like that?" he said.

Amelia watched the chaos unfold from a distance.

She wanted to get out, but John stopped her. "They have always been this way. Don't worry. Nothing could go wrong."

Amelia fell silent. It was right. This was how the Jenson family got along.

David only wanted her to return because he wanted to benefit from her marriage with Liam. He wanted to leech onto the Prescott family. Hence, her grandmother forbade her from returning, which made David anxious.

However, they were all the same in the eyes of the Prescott family. She, her grandparents, and her uncle were just like parasites. Amelia's gaze shifted to John.

"Why did Liam send you? What's his purpose?" Amelia asked.

She didn't believe that Liam had simply asked her to come back to see her grandparents.

She had mentioned going home more than once to Liam. However, he had only frowned and said he didn't have time, and that she should wait until he was free to accompany her back.

After that, he never spoke of when he would have time. So, she stopped bringing it up.

If not for this, she wouldn't have been so frightened by Liam's suggestion to send her home. She thought Liam was trying to get rid of her.

John avoided the question. Instead, he said, "I was ordered to send you back. You can ask Mr. Prescott yourself if you don’t believe me.”

Amelia was rendered speechless by his response. They returned to Riverbay Villa without further conversation. It was already 5 pm.

Unlike before, Amelia didn't go to the kitchen. She went straight to her room to rest. It was already dark outside when she woke up, and she was left alone in the villa.

Liam hadn’t returned for several days, leaving her without a call or text. She didn't look into it and continued with her life.

Although she was disappointed, she had expected this outcome.

At night, Amelia was sound asleep when a loud commotion awakened her. Apart from her, the only other person in the villa was a household staff member who stayed in a small room outside. She wouldn't come over at night.

Amelia couldn't help but wonder if Liam had returned. The thought crossed her mind, and her heart started pounding. She quickly opened the door and rushed downstairs.

However, she was met with the sight of Liam leaning against a woman as they stumbled through the doorway.

Amelia stood at the stairs, looking at them in confusion. The woman looked up and exclaimed, "Why are you just standing there? Hurry up and help us!"

Amelia could recognize the woman. It was the woman from the news. The rising young actress who was close to Liam, Ava Summers.

She hurried down the stairs to get a closer look at the man. It was indeed Liam. Amelia felt as if she had been struck by lightning. She couldn't believe he brought another woman back.

What on earth was going on between Liam and Ava?

She bit her lower lip, but before she could ask any questions, Ava urged impatiently, "Hurry up! He's drunk!"

This made Amelia's stomach churn with anger. She was the rightful owner of the house.

However, just then, Liam retched in agony and stumbled weakly. Amelia panicked. Without thinking, she supported him and brought him to the room.

"Go get a glass of water!" Ava ordered arrogantly.

Amelia hesitated for a moment. She looked at the heavily intoxicated Liam on the bed and turned around to go downstairs.

But as she was bringing the water up, Amelia noticed strange noises coming from the room. It sounded like moans of pain and pleasure.

Amelia's heart sank as she walked toward the partially closed door. She could see the room was messy, with clothes scattered all over the floor.

Her husband was with the popular actress, Ava Summers.
