I walked into the hallway that held our office. I was panicking, my nerves in my stomach. I didn't know how Leon was going to play this, he left my house last night quite late and in the light of day I was scared. What if it was stupidly awkward? What if he regretted it? Or worse still, it affected our work. I sheepishly walked into the open office, most people were at their desks.

"Morning Lex!" A few shouted to me.

"Morning guys." I sat down, I looked opposite me and Leon wasn't at his desk. I don't know if I preferred that or not. I logged in, double checking my emails. All of my paperwork was up to date, mainly because I'm a perfectionist.

"Morning!" I closed my eyes as I heard Leon's voice. He slumped down at his desk in front of me, moving his chair slightly to look at me properly.

"Morning," he whispered. I looked up and he was grinning.

"Good morning," I responded, looking back at my computer.

"Did you have a good evening Lex?" I moved my eyes back at him, shaking my head. He was such a dick.

"I did thank you, Leon." I tried to stop myself bursting out in laughter.

"Let me make you a coffee." He stood and I watched him go to the tea point. God his arse was amazing. I shamelessly stared at him as he made my coffee, ignoring the others in the room.

"Duggan!" I turned around to Superintendent Williams's voice. I stood up and she moved her head towards her office, I followed her in behind, shutting the door.

"Lexie, sit quickly please." I sat down as she did the same opposite me at her desk. I immediately got anxious. Even though my job demanded I had iron tight nerves, her calling me in made me panic. Maybe we dealt with things wrong yesterday? Did she know I turned my back on the guy? "I wanted to let you know there is a sergeant position out." She gave me a small smile and I instantly calmed. I leaned back in the chair, excited where this was going to go. "I want you to apply, I'm going to tell Leon as well."

"Oh, great, yeah I will." I was already thinking of my application.

"Please Lexie, I think you're ready. I will email it to you. You will have to complete the sergeant test if you're successful." I nodded, standing up.

"Thanks ma'am, for thinking of me." Williams waved her hand in front of her, a smile on her face.

"You two make a great team. Tell Leon to come in please."

"Course ma'am, thanks." I walked out of her office, shutting the door. Leon was at his desk, a coffee on mine.

"Thanks, Williams wants to see you." I moved my thumb towards her office. Leon stood up, a stupid grin on his face.

"Let's hope it's about that medal," Leon chuckled as he walked past me and into the office. I drank my coffee, trying to eavesdrop into the conversation happening in Williams's office. Leon was in there way longer than me, probably schmoozing her. I turned my head as I heard the office door open, Leon walking out.

"Bailey and Duggan, target practice today please. I'll let you know if anything comes in," Williams said forcefully. I nodded, drinking the last of my coffee.

"So are you going to apply?" I turned to Leon as we walked down the corridor to the armoury. He shrugged, running his hand over his head.

"I'm not sure, you are obviously," he joked.

"Why obviously?" We turned into the armoury.

"Because you want to be a superintendent and you're a teacher's pet." Leon laughed, walking to the window.

"No I'm not!" I groaned, I wouldn't say teacher's pet, but I was competitive, a perfectionist and definitely a workaholic.

"Leon Bailey," he said before turning to me. "You should go for it, you deserve it." He shrugged. I moved closer to him, standing by the side of the window.

"But so should you, I think she will give it to you." I sighed.

"Maybe, I am the worlds best SFO." Leon put his gun in his vest, turning to me. "I don't know if you know, I saved a colleague's life." He gave me a smirk. I pushed past him, going to the window.

"Lexie Duggan." I turned my head to him. "I've saved your life. When you were shot?" I raised my eyebrows.

"Lex, you did a bit of basic first aid. Nice try though," he said playfully. I signed my paperwork, shoving my gun into my vest. We walked out of the armoury, turning left to the target practice hall. Leon put his arm around my shoulders, making my heart jump.

"Not only did I save a dear colleague's life." I scoffed at him. Leon chuckled, moving his lips to my ear. "I fucked her stupid," he whispered. I felt my cheeks burn, trying to look around the hallway.

"Leon, fuck off," I growled, quietly.

"I think she wants me to do it again too." He took his arm off my shoulder, walking backwards into the target hall. I did, a million percent wanted him to fuck me again, but I refused to tell him that. The target hall was huge, four lanes which lead out to targets against the dark grey wall. Each lane had a booth in front of it and I signed my name on the piece of paper, next to one of the booths. Leon did the same next to me, loading his gun. Even the way he did that was turning me on. It was just the two of us and as I loaded my gun he spoke.

"I forgot to ask you, are you feeling alright about yesterday?" His question threw me off guard and I looked up at him.

"What do you mean?"

"Like the time the drug addict put a gun to your head?" He moved his head in confusion. Oh, shit he meant that.

"I'm okay." I smiled.

"Yeah, I don't think you are." Leon let out a breath, his face looked concerned and it created butterflies in my stomach.

"I am, I promise." I wasn't sure if I believed it. Leon did a stellar job at taking my mind off it last night and I honestly hadn't thought about it.

"Did you tell your dad?" He asked me.

"I haven't spoken to him yet," I shrugged. Leon tutted, shaking his head.

"You should tell him! He knows exactly how you are feeling." Leon turned to the target, I stepped back to watch him. He was an excellent shot. He fired two shots, pulling his gun back and turning to me.

"But you understand as well," I breathed out.

"Maybe, I don't know. I don't deal with shit like you." He chuckled. He didn't, when he was shot all he did was fucking crack jokes, even when he was basically bleeding out he came up with some silly remark. "You're pretending it didn't happen, I don't want you to do that." He looked up at me and I fought back a tear behind my eye. On face value Leon was a fucker, but he could be incredibly sweet.

"I've not really thought about it to be honest." I walked into the booth, raising my gun and firing two shots, both in the centre of the target. I smiled, pleased with myself as I stepped back.

"Oh yeah, you were distracted last night," Leon laughed, running his hand down his head. "That's my next question, how do you feel about that?" His smile was small.

"I'm not sure what you mean?" I didn't know what he wanted me to say and I certainly didn't know how he felt about it. I could make an excuse and say we had too much to drink, but that would be a lie. I had two glasses of wine, not particularly large and Leon was on soft drinks.

"Like, do you regret it?" He looked up at me, there was something in his eyes I couldn't gage.

"Do you?" I asked.

"Oh no Lex, I asked you first." He laughed again. It put my running mind at ease, picking up my gun again.

"No," I said quietly, going back into the booth and firing two more shots.

"Good," he whispered. My body went tight as I felt him behind me, his hands over mine on my gun.

"Do it like this," he muttered into my hair, lifting my hands up. He pushed up against me, his semi in my backside. "Pull," he said softly and I pulled the trigger, both of us moving back.

"Do you regret it?" I asked, my voice a little shaky. His hands were still over mine, my gun lower.

"Yeah, I regret not fucking you sooner." His voice was low in my ear, making my body fizzle. "I was thinking about your pussy all fucking night." I couldn't help myself and giggled at his words, putting my gun down. I turned around, one of his hands on my hips.

"Leon, we're at work," I tutted.

"Okay, come to mine. Once this shit is done."

"This shit? Our job?" I laughed.

"Yes or no?"

"Yeah, okay," I said, flirtatiously. Leon moved back, a grin on his face. I was already excited, wanting this twelve hour shift to be over already.

"Bailey, Duggan, were rolling out. Protest outside Buckingham Palace." Stuart poked his head into the target hall.

"Fantastic!" Leon shouted sarcastically, laughing.

"Glad you approve. Let's move." Stuart shook his head.
