Wonders of the Past

Fenris sat by Christen’s beside, watching the human as she slept. This was not the first time he had watched her sleep, having let her nap a few times during their meetings, letting her use his lap as a pillow. And each time he watched he sleeping face- a face that used to be relaxed- he would always feel at ease. Knowing that the person he loves is at peace.

This time? It was different. Her sleeping face was no longer anything peaceful, as it was now filled with terror. Her brows furrowed, face was pale, and he could even hear bits of whimpering from her. While the multiple scents on her did bother him greatly, it didn’t bother him as much as the expression she was having now, or the one she had before. When she screamed looking at his face.

‘Christen... What happened to you? Why did you react that way to me?' he wondered. 'If it was guilt for cheating on me, I guess I would understand. But that reaction was far too much to be that.’ He ran a hand across his face in wonder. ‘Did I no
