Alexander's POV

The house on the address Maria had given me was not what I had been expecting at all, yes she had gone off the grid for years now but I did not expect her to be leaving in such desolate conditions, the house looked pretty much uninhabited.

Taking a deep breath, I walked over to the front door and rang the doorbell, it didn't look like it was functioning anymore but one could always hope.

The doorbell rang and a smile curved my lips, at least one thing was working in the house, I shifted on the steps and it gave a loud squeak and I feared it will give out under my feet if I stood there any longer.

I heard the sound of the locks and a few seconds later the door swung open to reveal the inhabitant of the uninhabited looking house.

It was the woman from the websites, Dr. Emily Carter, though she had looked far more glorious on her pictures than she looked right now.
