Chapter 2: Belle

His low groans woke me from my trail of thoughts and with every strength I had in me, I pushed him off and gave him a resounding slap on the cheek. His eyes widened in shock at my violent act while his hands massaged his stinging cheeks. I could see the way his chiseled jawline tensed and released obviously to calm his rising temper. I knew what I did was quite dangerous because he could have his way with me as there was no one around and it was raining cats and dogs outside but I had to take my chances. I would never forgive myself if I gave in to his advances because it would break papa's heart. My papa never liked Gaston. He considered him too stubborn to tame.

“Belle!” He growled and I shrank back in fear. I had angered the devil and now I was going to pay for it. I swallowed hard and took a step back and Gaston made to move towards me.

He took a step forward and stopped. He must have seen the fear in my eyes or maybe my guardian angel was finally on duty again.
