Chapter 3: Belle

“Have you tried searching the forbidden part of the forest?” I felt the world go silent as my question seeped in.

“I mean, if something happened to him in the actual forest, Gaston and his men would have found him by now. Don’t you think?” she repeated and I stared straight at her.

She was right. Why didn’t I think of it earlier? The possibilities were slim but there was no harm in trying. He might have been dropped there –I thought but then shook my head against that idea.

No, he probably went there to hide from bandits and fell asleep from exhaustion.

“What are you thinking Belle?” Laurette asked giving me a little nudge on the shoulder.

“I have to go in there, Laurette!” I said as emotions overwhelmed me again and my shoulders shook. I knew what I was saying was crazy but what could I do? I couldn’t continue living my life when I had no idea what happened to my papa!

"Come here dear," Laurette said and opened wide her arms.
