Chapter 81: Hidden Luna

I walked into the coffee shop with false bravado. Maybe if I looked confident enough, they wouldn't know how low my qualifications for any job were.

I hadn't finished high school, neither had I gone to college. Looking at the coffee shop with its scuffed booths by the right far corner, and the round tables and stools in the middle of the diner, I didn't think someone needed a college degree to work there.

I stopped by the counter, and the lady standing behind it looked up at me.

She was wearing a t-shirt over blue jeans and she had a white apron tied on top. Her nails looked garish with the red nail polish on them.

"What can I get you?" She asked, opening a box on the black countertop in front of her.

"Um.. I saw the sign outside and wanted to know if you were still hiring." I replied, my fingers twitching nervously by my sides.

"Hey, Charles, the new help is here." She shouted out to someone.

The new help? Was that me? But I hadn't even had an interview. She hadn't asked for
