Chapter 28

Tanya's POV

"Darling, we should get going; your father must be tired of waiting," my mother said as I looked at my phone sadly.

It was six pm going on seven, and August was nowhere to be seen. I knew it was too good to be true when he promised to come and see me off, yet I chose to believe him. I felt like the biggest loser because I was still hoping that he could appear out of nowhere and smile at me.

"I am waiting for someone to deliver something I ordered online," I lied.

"Tanya, you have been saying this for hours now, yet no one has come. I told you, you can't stay with me. So if this is your way of not going back, it won't work. I will be traveling out of the country for some days, and I can't just leave you here alone. You are not a kid, but you aren't an adult either," she said as I stood up from the couch, grabbed her car keys which were on the table, then rushed out of the living room as she followed while calling out my name.
