Geneveive Tessa Robert
The mayor’s mansion design project was going slow, and it disgusted me. I couldn’t wait to complete it and leave California. I had given up finding a pretend husband in case Kyle showed up unexpectedly again, even though Vera thought I shouldn't. She advised me to call Kanebi and plead with him to pretend to be my husband and get back at Kyle for everything. I disagreed; I didn't want to look like a child. I already planted the idea that I would remarry and have children. That alone was enough to make him jealous and hurt. I had a feeling he would regret everything that he had done to me. Good for him. ‘Why are you smiling at yourself?’ James asked, sitting on the couch opposite me. I was in the parlour resting after helping Estella put the kids to bed after a long, hectic day. I couldn’t rest, of course, because of Kyle. ‘Kyle. I am worried he will start investigating my claim about a husband. What if he shows up and starts asking questions from the kids? I don’t know what to do.’ ‘You should tell him then, since you don’t know what to do.’ he replied, focusing on his phone. I glared at him and said, ‘I can’t make it easy for him, James. He has to suffer a bit before I reconcile with him.’ James looked up. ‘Okay, so you want to make him jealous, right?’ I nodded, ‘Yes, Vera said he came looking for me at the hotel yesterday. He is desperate, so I have to use that desperation against him. Something is drawing him to me.’ James' eyes shone like stars. ‘You think he is still in love with you, right?’ ‘Yes, it’s obvious, dear brother. I am certain he’s confused at the moment. You know he’s still with Ava. He must be debating with himself and wondering what is going on within him.’James clapped, ‘I didn’t know you were a brilliant psychologist, sis. Well done. So, let’s say you are right, do you have a husband in mind?’
Kanebi’s name screamed in my head. I hadn’t spoken to him in years and from mum’s latest news, he just got engaged to some politician’s daughter. Everything told me, my plan wouldn’t work but I had to try. It’s the least I could do to make Kyle feel the hurt that I felt then.
‘I think Kanebi can help out. I just need to set up a meeting with him and explain the situation.‘ ‘Do you think he will just agree? Kanebi is engaged and in the United Kingdom. You don’t expect someone you haven’t seen for years, Tessa, to hop on a plane because of a revenge plan? I don’t agree with this plan. We can hire someone else.’ I laughed, ‘Dear brother, the plan is on. Kanebi is currently in the United States. He is in New York and I already sent him a message for a meeting. He will be here in two days' time.’ James whistled, ‘That’s fast. Alright, if this is what you need to do, I am with you. Just be careful. I don’t like Kyle one bit. ‘ ‘I will be careful, brother.’ I smiled. ‘ By the way, dad called earlier. He has gotten someone to set up the table tablets for the hotel’s cafe. You will be meeting up with him tomorrow.’ ‘No, I can’t. I have a meeting with some Italian clients and there’s a presentation the Nashville team created that I need to check up.’‘But the meeting is here, not in Nashville. You can have the business, then, travel to Nashville once you are done. ‘ I replied. I know he was making excuses to push the meeting to me. I couldn’t anyway. I had Mayor Kim’s project to supervise and take the kids out.
James stood up and said, "I can't do it, Tessa. That will be a lot of stress, and my flight is leaving by tomorrow morning.’ ‘I can’t do the meeting too. I have Mayor Kim’s project to supervise and the twins' outing to take care of. Vera and Estella need to rest. They have been looking after the kids for close to three weeks.’ ‘You can squeeze time for it. You are Robert's first child, so it's your job to take care of emergencies like this.’ he winked, walking off. I sighed. I knew there was no way I could convince James to attend the meeting. I thought of calling Dad, but knowing him, I decided not to. He would repeat the same words James just said and would suggest I take charge. I picked up my phone and read through the mail Dad had sent. It had details of the meeting with the D.K. tech company. Thankfully, it wasn’t clashing with the kids' picnic outing. I also had to be extra sure that the location of the meeting wasn’t the same vicinity Kyle’s workshop was situated. I didn’t want to see him until Kanebi was here. I had one week left to pull the perfect revenge plan. The next day flew faster than I expected. The team had created a new way to install the designs for the massive parlour of Mayor Kim. The space was large and empty and we needed to fill it with wallpapers, decorations and attractive furniture. It was a hectic job which couldn’t be done in one day. So, I told the team to return the next day as early as possible. We were way behind schedule and Mayor Kim was beginning to complain.
I boarded a taxi and arrived twenty minutes earlier for the meeting with D.K tech company. The representative hadn’t come. I ordered a plate of potato fries and sauce while I checked in with Estella about the kids. After that, I sent a fresh reminder to Kanebi concerning our meeting. We spoke yesterday night after the conversation with James but I wasn't able to remind him because Hope distracted me and I had to cut the conversation short.
He replied almost immediately. He promised to be there by noon and was grateful we were finally meeting after so many years. I replied with an emoji. I didn’t want to complicate matters with my words.Kyle KingI checked my outfit again before stepping down from the car. I hoped Tessa wouldn’t run off once she realised that I was the representative of the D.K. tech company. Uncle David wanted to fly over, but I assured him that I wouldn’t mess it up. Tessa would have no choice but to stay because her father had already agreed to the contract details. All we needed was to run through the plans for the job, and I would send a go-ahead to the team in Nashville.I walked into Dio’s lounge. I had picked an open environment because I wasn’t sure if it was going to be Tessa or her brother who would show up. Seeing her now, I was proud of my decision. I took a last glance at Robyn’s rare collection suit and a pair of specially made black shoes by an old friend. I looked exactly like my title: The Billionaire CEO.‘Hello, Mrs. Tessa,’ I smiled, taking my seat. ‘I am sorry for keeping you waiting.’She rose i
Geneveive Tessa Robert‘Mummy, Kim said, Daddy travelled to heaven. Is that true?’ Nicholas asked, staring fully at me.‘What? Who is Kim?' I inquired, wondering what kind of child would tell another child such a thing.Nicholas replied, ‘Kim is my seatmate. Her dad brings her to school in a fancy car every day, and she always has stories to tell about her father. I have nothing to share about Daddy. Is he in heaven?’I shook my head, hugging him. ‘Your daddy isn’t in heaven, okay? I told her he left me before I had you and Hope. That’s the truth.’‘When would he come back? My friend wants to meet him. They only see you and Auntie Estella most of the time, mummy.’I smiled, holding his hands. ‘He will come one day, but till then, see me as your mummy and daddy, okay?’He nodded. ‘Alright, mummy. Can I go outside and play?’‘No, young man. We were
Kyle KingThe workshop seminar is ending this week, but I hadn’t booked my ticket to leave California. I was confused and unable to sleep at night because I kept thinking about Tessa. I tried to search for her location, but I got nothing. Mayor Kim had refused to give him her address because of what happened at the anniversary. The Kings had been officially cut off from the mayor’s list of favourable people. I rose from the couch, took my glass of juice, and walked outside. Xavier was with his study partners. They had their final examination on Friday, and Xavier had created a study team for people who were interested.I was supposed to be with them, but I would be of no use due to my lack of concentration. My phone vibrated. A message from Uncle David. He wanted to know if I had given Tessa her copy. I sighed. How could I find someone who didn’t want to be found?A few days ago, I went to the mayor’s h
Geneveive Tessa RobertThe last few days had been eventful. Kanebi agreed to be my fake husband because he wanted Kyle to pay for what he did to me. I also advised him to tell his fiancee, so there wouldn’t be any complications. I just needed Kanebi for a week, depending on when Kyle showed up unexpectedly. He was good at that lately.I smiled, watching him give piggybacks to Nicholas. Hope was engrossed with her toys, and Vera wanted to engage with them. It was beautiful watching them. It almost felt like a complete family, only that Kanebi wasn’t their father. Kanebi had promised not to say anything to the kids about pretending to be their father. We didn’t want them to get attached after he left. Although it seemed like it was too late for that wish, Nicholas and Kanebi were getting along after just a few days of meeting. The doorbell rang. I looked up from the carrots I was chopping. James was sleeping, and I wasn&
Kyle King‘Honestly, Xavier. I shouldn’t have listened to your advice! You need to see the way she treated me in the presence of her husband. Like I was some trash not worthy to be in her presence. I was embarrassed and felt so stupid.’Xavier chuckled. ‘Don’t blame me, man. You were the desperate ex-husband, and I jumped in to help out. I can't predict what will happen when you get there, so you shouldn’t blame me.’I glared at him, ‘Of course. You were the same person who claimed your instincts were always right. How come Tessa served me breakfast?’‘She didn’t. You served her first, remember? Besides, you still haven’t debunked the claim that the children aren’t yours.’ he smiled.I scoffed, ‘She is married, Xavier, and I saw her husband. He is real, and the kids are his, not mine. He was defensive and wouldn’t even let me speak
Genevieve Tessa Roberts I was fidgeting. I heaved a deep sigh and pulled the hem of my dress to cover my knees. Taking a glance at the wristwatch strapped to my wrist, I noted with great angst that it's been over twenty minutes since the Doctor walked out of the room on an excuse to get back to me soon. Sighing again, I rubbed my palms together before picking up my phone to check if I had any missed calls or anything of the sort but nothing stood out to me. I started to put my phone away when the door opened and I stopped and turned toward the woman that had walked in. Sitting up in my seat, my eyes followed Doctor Brown’s movement till she finally settled back in her seat which was right in front of me, separated by a huge desk that had a bunch of stuff I wasn't interested in on it. “Sorry for the long wait, Mrs. King. Here is the test result.” She smiled softly before handing me the results. I hesitated for a second, my heart leaping with what I didn't know as I eyed the unse
Genevieve Tessa Roberts My body stopped moving but my fingers didn't. I stood there, eyes wide with disbelief and apparent shock as I listened to my husband, Kyle go on and on about a lot of things I was too shocked to decipher. He was talking to Xavier, his childhood best friend who had always been in our lives. I had no idea what to say to that or what to think. My heart must have died on the spot because I suddenly found it hard to breathe. Grasping the fabric of my coat, I willed myself to take in deep sharp breaths but it was extremely hard. All I felt was pain. Excruciating pain that rendered me numb. “But, do you really think that you need to do that? Maybe you should take more tests or consider another option. IVF? Surrogacy?” Xavier was talking, asking the mother fucker I called my husband. “IVF, we have already done and concluded. Nothing's worked out. My mother would have my head at the thought of surrogacy. You know how uptight she is and how she wouldn't bend to the sc
Genevieve Tessa Roberts I laid in bed quietly with tears in my eyes, waiting. Five years that I'd been married to Kyle and I'd never received that level of disrespect. The disrespect was too much. I couldn't take it and the more I thought about it, the more the tears wouldn't stop flowing. I hated to think for even a second that it was because of me that this was happening. I knew exactly the time Dahlia and Katherine finished dinner and left. I also listened as he went straight to his study instead of coming to the room. My heart clenched. The Kyle I had married would have come into the room to check on me. Scratch that, he would have cautioned his mother the moment she opened her mouth and came around to check up on me to see if I was okay. The more I thought about it all, the more it hurt and it got increasingly harder for me to stop the tears. Kyle finally walked into the room at around two in the morning. The room was dark but I watched him move about, shuffling things and arra
