As Hervey's break finished and she went back to work it was time for me to head back home, I wouldn't want Max to return home by chance and realize I wasn't home.

As Cecilia and I made our way home, heading to the bus stop, our footsteps heavy with the weight of unanswered questions, a sudden appearance shattered the somber atmosphere. Seraphina emerged seemingly out of nowhere, a smug smile playing on her lips. My heart sank at the sight of her, a foreboding sense of unease settling in the pit of my stomach.

I thought she was gone but apparently not, why does everybody live so close by in the city and keep running into each other, I thought the city is such a big place, and the chances of meeting people were slim.

"Why aren't you at the hospital with Max and his mother?" Seraphina's voice dripped with a mix of mockery and satisfaction. "Or perhaps Max's mother doesn't want you around. After all, you're nothing more than a fake in their lives, aren't you?"
