Fifty-Three.
(Third Person’s POV)
Alphonso had not left Lily’s side since he came to Deadwood. The nurse had become his friend, but he couldn’t say the same about Chris.
Chris didn’t seem to want him around.
Alphonso had taken over from the nurses and had appointed himself as Lily’s caretaker. He cleaned her, turned her on her bed to avoid her getting bedsores, and fed her—at least he ensured that she was taken care of.
A nurse, Miss Denning, walked into the room with a smile on her face as she came to check on Lily.
“How are you doing, self-appointed nurse?” Denning asked Alphonso, who was holding Lily’s hand, and sat beside her.
Alphonso brushed Lily’s hair, “still worried. How is the baby doing?”
