CHAPTER: FOUR

3RD PERSON’S POV

Leo was not happy to see Kai around; he was enjoying the party until he showed up, and that was not part of his plans. All he wanted was some time alone to get to know her, Arya Wayne; he was sure she was his mate, and as much as he hated how weak and timid she was.

All he wanted was to confront him and ask him what he was doing at his pack house; he was the Alpha of the pack and had every right to know why he would show up at his pack house without his permission.

He knew Kai was stalking her and he had not told his mom about it; he wanted to solve it by himself as the leader, but Kai was giving him a hard time, showing up every time he pleased and even having the guts to stalk her. Even though he had someone onto Arya, it was for her good; he wanted no harm done to her, and that was his aim.

Leo walked stealthily to where Kai and his group of friends were seated and demanded to talk to him.

“What are you doing here? Was my warning not enough for you to stay away from her?” He asked, and Kai laughed sarcastically.

“I don’t think you have the right to tell me what to do; the last time I checked, you are not my father, and you are not my leader, to say the least.”

“Unless you are forgetting one important thing, Kai, this is my territory and I make the rules. I told you to stay away from Arya Wayne, but it looks like that fell on deaf ears, and now you still have the guts to show up at her birthday party and in my territory, huh?” Leo asked, pissed, but Kai was having fun with it.

“I don’t know if this party is yours or hers, and I certainly don’t understand why you are acting so bossy; it is not like she employed you to look out for her; I got an invitation, and that is why I am here; plus, I come bearing gifts,” he said boastfully.

“Speaking of which, I think I should go look for the birthday girl.” He added and started walking away, but Leo grabbed his hand; he was shaking with anger and wanted to punch him. “And what are you going to do? Punch me? You and I both know how that will end, and you don’t want to ruin her party with your insecurities, or do you, Alpha Leo?" He asked, and as much as Leo knew he was right, he still did not let go of his arm until he felt a tap on his shoulder. It was Penelope, the pack witch.

“Let him go; you don’t want to cause chaos right now, not with him.” She said, and Leo had no choice but to let go of him, “See you around, Leo.” Kai said as he walked away and disappeared into the crowd.

“You know that is not how to handle an enemy; you don’t show them your other side; you let them experience your wrath through actions,” Penelope said after she helped him calm down.

“You don’t understand; how come we both share a mate with my greatest enemy? Why would the moon goddess allow this? You know I am always open to fighting with him about any other thing, but this is not how I pictured things to turn out.”

“Things happen, and we don’t have the right to question the moon goddess. Arya can be your or his mate, but she has the choice to reject either of you, and we will see as time goes by. Remember, she also has to choose a mate for herself.”

“Yeah, I know that, but why would she invite him?”

“I don’t think Kai was invited. You know how he operates and is always ready to ruin things for you. I just advise you not to take action tonight. You two can always solve your differences outside the pack. You and I both know how this fight will end, and we don’t want the deaths of our pack members.” She said, and Leo nodded in agreement.

He walked back to the bar, but Arya was not there. He asked around for her, but no one had seen her. He was worried for a minute, so he quickly rushed outside to look for her.

“You look handsome, Alpha Kai.” One girl tried to flirt with him, but he shushed her and walked towards Elie, who was seated with her group too.

“Hey, Elie.”

“Hey handsome,” she said with a naughty smile, and Leo sighed, “I am not in the mood for this; I am looking for someone.” He went straight to the point.

“Okay, I know who, and no, I haven’t seen her; I think she went home; we can hang out if you want?” She insisted, but Leo brushed it off.

“Not today, Elie; maybe some other time; have you seen Kai?”

“You mean Alpha Kai?”

“Yes.”

“He went outside, I guess. What do you want to do with him?”

"Nothing, I just wanted to talk; I will see you around.” He said and walked out to find Kai and Arya; it was not a coincidence that both of them had disappeared.

Meanwhile, as Arya was trying to get some air, she felt a presence behind her, but she was not in the mood to talk to anyone.

“Can’t you guys just leave me alone? I came here to get some fresh air, and I don’t want any disruptions, please.” She said, but the intruder was not moving.

“I am not here to interrupt you; I am just here to talk to you,” Kai said in a composed tone, and Arya turned to look at him.

She was mesmerized by his beauty; he looked handsome in a pair of black khaki pants, a black tight-fitting T-shirt, and a pair of high boots.

“Oh, and who might you be?” She asked obliviously.

“My name is Kai, but most people call me Alpha Kai.” He added, and Arya sighed.

“Okay, I know who you are; I just wanted the reassurance that it was you; what are you doing here?”

“I am here to give you my gift; happy birthday, Arya Wayne.” He said as he handed her a wrapped gift.

“Thank you, Alpha Kai.” She said and took the gift, which she admired, but before she could turn to thank him again, Leo and Kai were already pouncing on each other, fighting badly.

"Guys please, just stop it! What the hell is wrong with you two?” She shouted, hoping they would listen to her, but the two were so engrossed in their fight that no one heard her shouts.

Her happiness was short-lived; one minute she was happy and trying to adjust to the way things were, and another minute she is torn between two Alphas fighting for no good reason at all, and soon the whole party had turned into chaos with both packs fighting against each other, the music stopping, glasses being thrown everywhere, and the whole room was chaotic.

Arya did not know what to do, and the only thing that could stop the two packs from fighting was if their leaders stopped the fight.

“I told you to stay the hell away from her, but you never listen to anything I tell you; what is going on with you? This is my territory, and you have to follow the rules around here,” Leo said as he threw a punch at Kai but missed, and soon the two were on the flow, tearing each other apart.

After a few minutes of trying to separate them without success, Arya was tired of being sidelined, and she knew she had to do what she didn’t like to separate them, so she transformed into a cute silver wolf and dragged Leo away from Kai.

Kai transformed into a big black wolf, and when his eyes met Arya’s, both of their iris glowed: Kai into a bright red, while Arya glowed into a bright blue.

“Mate.” Kai’s wolf muttered before he ran and disappeared into the crowd.

Arya turned to look at Leo, who had transformed into a menacingly huge black wolf. He angrily watched as Alpha Kai’s wolf ran and disappeared into the crowd and the woods before he ran after him. Arya sighed and transformed back into her human form before she walked into the room to find Emily.

Soon, most of Kai’s friends and other wolves from his pack had run to the woods, and there was order once again in the hall.

Arya walked back into the hall and stumbled on Emily.

“Damn, I have been looking all over for you; what happened?” Emily said as she dragged her outside again.

“A lot happened; I just want to go home,” Arya said, and Emily understood what she meant.

“Okay, let me drop you off at home, and you can tell me what the hell happened in here while I was gone. I will ask one of my girls to bring your gifts home, so don’t worry about that.” She said as the two walked into Emily’s car.

What she only wanted was to enjoy her 19th birthday and probably get a mate, but things turned out differently; she was now a mate to two sworn-in enemies, and from the look of things, no one was ready to let go or give up on her, and she was torn in between the circus and the fight between the two rival Alphas.

Maybe her father was right; it was time for her to make a decision and not to mess with the two Alphas because it was going to cause a lot of death between the two packs, and she knew better than to be the reason behind the war between the two packs, the moonlight pack and the red crescent pack.

As she slept that night, she thought about how composed Kai was and the glow of their eyes when they looked at each other—the same thing that happened between her and Leo—but at least Kai remembered to get her a gift; that was thoughtful of him.
