Chapter Twenty Nine
Faith's mother arrived at the hospital with her niece, Amirah,and rushed to Faith's ward as directed by one of the nurses. She cried her daughter's name as she lunged forward and hugged her.
Amirah greeted Desmond with a wink and a smile that made her look weird before looking back at her sister. "Are you okay now?" Amirah asked with a broad smile.
"Yes," Faith answered and then glanced at her boss. "You shouldn't have called them, Desmond. It's no big deal," Faith said, expecting a reply from him. He had barely spoken to her during the time he had been there before her mother arrived. All her effort to start a conversation with him kept proving fruitless.

Desmond carried Faith and helped her settle in the back seat of his car while her mother and Amirah stood some centimeters away."My dear, are you sure you don't want to follow me home?" her mother asked, trying to convince her unyielding daughter who only shook her head and forced a smile on her pale face."I'm fine, mum.
