Chapter Forty One

Tears pooled in Sarita's eyes and when she tried to blink them away, they streamed down her cheeks. She angrily wiped them away, glaring daggers at Vikrant.

"Will you get off your stupid high horse?!" She yelled at him. "How can you say that to me? You really think I'm as shallow as your friends? You're the one with the shallow mind if you think that."

Vikrant's gaze softened and he suddenly felt like beating himself up for making her cry. He walked up to her and tried to pull her into his embrace but she pushed him away.

"Don't touch me!" She spat. "Do you think you're the only one with feelings? You knew what I meant but you made me say it anyway and you mocked me first!"

"I'm sorry." He apologised. "I'm really sorry Anu."

"Sorry for yourself." She sniffled. "Jackass."

He tried again, gently this time and she let him. He wrapped his arms around her and stroked her hair, feeling like his heart wanted to burst out of his chest from happiness but he didn't want to jump into conclusions
