Chapter 01— Dream

The scene is set at night, with low light from the pole lights.

A man is driving his car at an incredibly fast pace of 100mph while drinking alcohol.

He was not paying attention to the road and risking his life.

The music was turned on and the background song was running like the wind.

He spotted an empty alcohol bottle with pouty lips as soon as he finished it.

"I need one more!" He doesn't even have the slightest concentration on the road. He bent his head down and started searching for the alcohol bottle while operating the steering wheel with his hand without any concentration.

There is a petrol pump across the road, but no one is at work in the station.

"I got you!" The man screamed in happiness upon finding a beer bottle.

"Sh*t!" When he looked out through the window, his eyes widened while watching the petrol pump shop.

He lost control of his car and crashed into a gasoline pump, causing a massive explosion. The region is engulfed in flames, and the man is trapped inside his car, screaming in pain and burning alive.

"MERRY!" The strong voice echoed around the room as the alarm clock started ringing.

I opened my eyes and woke up from my bed while taking rapid breaths.

My heart started pounding into my ears, and sweat rolled down my cheeks—I was just out of breath.

The scene shifted abruptly to my bedroom after having a nightmare. I grabbed my head with one hand and it took me a moment to realize that it was just a dream.

YES, IT WAS ALL IN MY DREAM!

"WHAT THE HECK, man?" I yelled at the top of my lungs while remembering the dream

"MERRY!" The strong voice echoed around the room when the alarm clock started ringing as well.

It is such a beautiful voice that I can recognize it even in my dreams.

She is my favorite person in this world, and I love her more than my life.

IT'S MY MOTHER, NOAH!

"Are you even up?" she screamed when she did not receive a response from me.

"Yes!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, passing my voice to her.

"Give me 5 minutes, I will wash and come!" I washed myself before making my way out.

I was wearing a white crop top and black jeans with loose, open feather-cut hair down to my waist.

I am such a natural beauty; I gave myself a flying kiss and winked. Sometimes a compliment is also a good way to start the day.

A smile appeared on my lips as soon as my eyes captured my beautiful mother in the kitchen while she was preparing breakfast for us.

I wrapped my hands around her waist, placed my head on her shoulder, kissed her on the cheek, and hugged her tight.

"Good morning, Mumma!" I greeted her with a smile and a warm hug, grateful for her presence in my life.

"Good morning, sweetheart!" She replied and turned back while cupping my face with both hands before giving me a sweet kiss on my forehead.

I closed my eyes for a second before sharing a look with her. The smile was not leaving my lips.

My mother always gives me a morning kiss, and it starts my day.

Her love and care have always been my guiding light.

"Go and take your seat; I will bring breakfast!"  She said, winking at me while turning back to the stove.

"I'll help you, miss!" I said while taking the bowl in my hand.

"You will?" she replied and then we laughed together before I made my way to the dining table.

I placed the breakfast bowl on the table and poured water into two glasses for both of us.

The TV was already turned on, and the news information echoed into my ears while making me look at the TV screen.

There was a death scene showing on the news.

It was the same incident that came to mind in my dream—the man bumped his car against the petrol pump and died.

Rest in peace. A sigh escaped my mouth. This was not surprising, as it happened every time.

As the new information echoed into my ears, I couldn't help but feel frustrated and helpless.

The ability to see the future through my dreams was something I never asked for, but it was a reality I had to live with to it.

At first, I dismissed it as mere coincidence, but as time went on, I realized that my dreams were indeed a glimpse of what was to come.

It was a scary thought, especially since most of the events I saw were tragic and heartbreaking.

I remember one particular dream where I saw a son killing his father for insurance money. The details were so vivid that it felt like I was watching a movie.

The next day, I saw the same news on the TV, and it was the same scenario that I had seen in my dream. It was chilling to see the events unfold before my eyes, and it left me feeling disturbed.

There were other instances as well, like the time when I saw a husband abusing and beating his wife to death for his self-ego. It was a horrifying experience, and it made me realize the gravity of my ability. It felt like a curse, and I wished that I could turn it off like a switch but at the same time, I helped many people to escape from their disgusting fate.

I can't really say, my ability is luck and curse for me.

Despite the fear and uncertainty that came with my dreams, I chose to keep them to myself.

I didn't want my mother to worry about my mental health, especially since I didn't know how to explain my ability. It was a secret that I carried with me, and it weighed heavily on my mind.

As I watched the news on TV, I felt a pang of pain in my heart every time I saw someone die.

It was like reliving my dreams all over again, and it left me feeling helpless—just then, my mother's voice interrupted my thoughts, and I realized that it was time for breakfast.

"Let's have breakfast, baby girl,"

"Hey, it's Justin!" My mom screamed in happiness while looking at the TV.

I looked up to see Justin giving a statement to a journalist about a recent death.

Justin is my best friend and my one and only friend.

We have been friends since primary school—we shared both tears and laughter together.

Justin is also the only person who knows about my unique ability to see the future through my dreams, and he also trusts me and my ability.

"Justin looks very handsome on screen." There was a huge smile appearing on my mother's lips.

"Does he look ugly in real-time?” I teased my mother while looking at her.

"Oh, shut up; I never said it!" My mother growled at me. LOL, she can't hear anything bad for Justin—she just likes him so much.

Their bonding is like a mother and son.

"My Justin is the most handsome man in this world." She sounded when I nodded my head in response.

"Why don't you marry him?" Her lips synced into the pouty while telling me.

Oh my goodness, she again started it—no way!

"Mom, please not again!" I exhaled my breath while grabbing my head with my right hand.

"What is the problem with marrying Justin?” My mother shrugged her shoulders.

    "He is handsome and well-educated!"

"He is the police officer and the second person who cares for you so much after me!" She let a sigh out while saying everything in one breath.

Yes, it's damn true!

Justin takes care of me so well, and my mom wants me to marry such a caring man like Justin.

She is dying to get us to marry each other!

"Mumma, we love each other, but as friends!"

"We don't have any mutual love feelings towards each other!"

"Then try to love him!" She raised her one eyebrow, telling me to love him.

"Love cannot be forced!" I shrugged my shoulders.

"You are going to lose a handsome and caring husband like Justin—mark my words!" She mumbled with her pouty lips.

Huh, it's true!

I am really going to miss the opportunity to marry such a wonderful man as Justin.

"If I were in your place, I would definitely marry Justin!" She said this while taking her seat before serving us breakfast on the plate.

"You have my permission—if you like Justin, then marry him!” I winked at her while making her jaw drop, looking at me with wide eyes.

Hahaha, I got her, LOL!

"You naughty girl. " She grabbed my ear while showing her finger.

"Ouch, Mumma!" We laughed at each other and then started having breakfast together while gossiping about Justin!

I don't believe in the relationship—the love cannot last long! Justin is my only friend, and I never want to lose him.

My phone beeped while interrupting our mother-daughter breakfast date. I grabbed my phone in my hand and checked the screen—Justin's name was popping up.

"It's Justin!" As soon as I said his name, a big smile appeared on my mother's face.

"Okay, today we had plans to go out; catch you later, Mumma!" I kissed my mother's cheek.

"Are you going on a date with him?"

As I looked at her with a puppy smile on her lips, I couldn't help but feel a sense of determination.

I made up my mind that I was not going to let her argue with me about Justin again. I confidently kissed her cheek and picked up my phone before running out to meet my handsome police officer.

He was leaning against the car, wearing sunglasses that added a mysterious aura to his eyes. He was tall, with broad shoulders and a muscular body that suggested he was in peak physical condition—he was freaking handsome!

He winked at me while opening the car door, and I couldn't help but entertain the thought of trying to date him. I quickly dismissed the idea, knowing that Justin was the only my friend.

This is my story.

My mother is all I have in my family and then Justin, who really cares for me.

The smile disappeared around my lips out of the blue when my mind reminded me of the bold personality across the path.

I saw someone standing behind the pillar in front of my house.

He was a man holding a firearm in his hand, and my eyes widened as I realized that he could be a threat. We shared a brief look, and I could see that his eyes were dark and mysterious.

He turned back and stepped out of the place, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease.

Who the hell was he?

He looked like a criminal, and I couldn't shake the feeling that he was tailing me.

I quickly realized that I needed to be prepared for any potential danger.

I vowed to protect myself and my loved ones at all costs, should the need arise. I couldn't let anyone threaten our safety, and I knew that I needed to be vigilant.
