chapter 4

"This is your room," david mom said as she opened the door in front of us, revealing a lovely space. It was spotless and well-organized. I followed her lead and entered. To be honest, I liked the room. It was the largest room I'd ever seen, but I couldn't fully appreciate it. The realization that David was also living under this roof sapped all of my happiness. If the alpha hadn't threatened to harm my family, I wouldn't be here.

Two guards came in and carried my belongings to the floor. They bowed to Luna before departing.

"Adams..." david mom started to say something, but I quickly corrected her, "It's Rachel."

"Rachel, I understand this isn't how you expected to spend your eighteenth birthday," she continued, "but please know that I'm doing this for you as well."

"I don't know who you are, but I sense something in you." Don't underestimate yourself. A weakling would never be paired with a future alpha, according to the goddess. It makes no difference why you're here; what matters is that you're here right now. "The sooner you accept your reality, the better it will be for you," she said as she left, leaving the room keys on the bed.

I've managed to annoy the only nice person in this house.

I tried to communicate with my wolf, but there was no response. Vivian remained deafeningly silent. I'd never felt more alone. It wasn't just because I was in a new place; Vivian wasn't responding. Even when I was alone, having my wolf by my side made me feel as if I was not alone.

I sat down on the bed after briefly surveying the room. A familiar scent suddenly filled the air. It was strong, as if the scent's source was nearby. Mr. William possessed it.

He wasn't there when I moved my belongings, so he must have come to speak with me. I exited the room and went outside.

Some guards were pushing Mr. William back and shouting at him. He was attempting to explain something, but they would not let him go. They acted as if he were unimportant, constantly obstructing his path and pushing him backward. He was enraged.

"Stop right now! He's my father!" I yelled at the security guards. Mr. William was not my biological father, but he was a father figure to me in many ways.

My previous residence before moving to the Williams was a living nightmare. I had endured numerous instances of physical abuse and thought I deserved it until I met Mr. and Mrs. William, who taught me that I deserved love.

"Let him get through!" I yelled again because it appeared they hadn't heard me the first time.

They immediately left him alone and let him pass.

Mr. William approached me quickly. His pupils were amber in color. The shift in his eyes, which were normally brown, indicated that his wolf was close to the surface.

"Rachel, pack your belongings." "We're going home now," he said, taking my hand in his and leading me to the front door.

I stood in front of him, blocking his path. "Mr. William, please calm down."

He came to a complete stop.

"I promised I'd look after you. I promised to keep you safe. I said I'd be your father. "I can't let these people treat you like this," he said softly. They carried so much pain. When I moved in with him and his wife, he vowed that I would never be mistreated again.

I could understand his rage. I was enraged as well. I was the one who was rejected and then made to live here. I despised the situation, but opposing them would have disastrous consequences.

"These people are the alpha and luna," I told him, but he ignored me.

"What's the big deal?" We're going to leave the clan and join another pack."

"They have the ability to harm you and everyone back home."

"I should be concerned about that." I'm the boss. You're my daughter, and you should live with me. They have the audacity to threaten and force you into their home after their son rejects you. "I'll confront them," his amber eyes darkened and claws appeared.

He was about to shift. I wouldn't be able to stop him if he completely shifted. That was not going to happen. If he got into a fight, there was no way he'd come out unscathed.

I wrapped my arms around him and pulled him into a hug without hesitation.

"I just can't stand the idea of you being here," he finally said calmly.

"I understand, but I have to stay." You all have a life here. Even if we flee, they will find us and have no mercy. This is the only option. I assure you that I am safe. I'll return whenever I can."

He gave me one last look before leaving. I waved goodbye calmly, but as soon as he turned his back, tears streamed down my cheeks. I wished I could accompany him. I didn't want to be here any longer.

I made my way back to my room, my head bowed. I didn't even bother looking around. I caught a whiff of David's scent as I approached the door. It was strong, and despite his rejection, the mate's allure lingered in me, much to my chagrin.

I hadn't seen him since that moment, so I wasn't prepared to confront him.

I opened the door to my room without looking back and quickly entered, closing it behind me. I started getting ready to take a shower.

After i took a shower, I stepped out of the shower, with a mini towel
