CHAPTER TWENTY -ONE

Nora’s POV

I watched as Jake made his way into the house. Looking closely at him, I noticed that he had a scar on his mouth. What could have prompted that? I wondered. He still has the charming smile that always makes my heart flutter.

“Hi baby," he began, but I cut him off.

“Don’t call me that.” I couldn’t hide the disgust in my voice. How dare he call me that? He raised his hands in mock innocence and smiled devilishly.

“I’m sorry, Nora.” I nodded at him.

“How have you been, Nora?” He asked as his eyes raked over my body. His eyes shone as he looked at me, like I was done with shiny new metal or something.

“I am exactly where you left me, Jake.” I snapped at him and folded my hands over my chest. He walked across the room and sat beside me. He tilted my face towards him, and I had no other option but to stare at him.

“I am sorry for what I have done to you, Nora. I have had time to regret my actions, and all I have been filled with is ‘I wish’. I hope you can believe me,” he said.
