Alana's POV.

The boils were becoming more painful and unbearable with each hour that passed, and one of the most painful parts of it was that I didn't know what or who to blame.

I didn't know if I should blame the maid who brought those things to my room, which, by the way, I had thrown away and burned under Alaric's order.

Or maybe I should blame myself for even trusting myself to use those goods. The company, manufacturer, and all those involved in making and selling those creams ought to be thrown in jail.

As it was brewing inside me, I was also crying because I was once again helpless.

My bad fate in life had to continuously throw shades of events that I couldn't fight off by myself. Now, what was this again?

I snapped my eyes shut while I restricted all urges inside me to scrub at my face and scratch away the boils. They felt wet, plump yet hardened on the surface, and whenever I tried to press them, it hurt me so much.
