Chapter 4

Matilda POV

In conclusion, I had to leave. No one wanted me and even the person I had hoped to stick with forever betrayed me. I felt the best way to leave and start a new life - if it doesn’t get any worse.

I looked at my face through the mirror as the makeup artist applied warm foundations on my face with the mascara brushing my lashes up. I couldn’t understand my feelings, and neither do I know what to say.

My parents and everyone in the pack were happy, the deal will be sealed as long as I was given to the king as his gift. I also didn’t struggle with them, like a weak and stupid lady - I sold myself out.

Hilda was asked to stay indoors until the whole process was done. As soon as I leave, she could resurface but at the moment she must stay in her room.

The veil was covered on my face and I was asked to stand. I couldn’t help but gasp in admiration, I was loving beautiful, and attractive in the breathtaking gown. It wasn’t a regular wedding dress, the design and everything was made in Milan giving it its uniqueness.

“You look pretty, Matilda.” Uncle Thomas who has been standing beside me said with his mouth wide open, I blushed.

It has been a while since I heard praises from someone, especially in this pack.

“I heard the king is here, we have no leave and not keep him waiting,” he informed me and I nodded. I faced the mirror again.

I exhaled heavily. I was about to take a bold step and there will be no turning back. I dumped my mate, that would be the whole story because I can't bring myself to accept the reality.

I stepped out of the dressing room with Uncle Thomas and a few servants, he led me to the meeting room where everyone was waiting for me.

Getting married to him won't be a total disadvantage, at least I will be prestigious and never be mistreated. Whether he loves me or not, I would be the Luna. There was nothing bad with it, I will no longer be under my mother’s armpit whereby she dictates whatever must happen to me. It was as if she held my destiny in her palm.

I shook the thought off my head and stared through the veil at the empty throne, my father and mother were standing by the side but the king was nowhere to be found.

I stopped a few steps away from the platform, everyone’s eyes were like they would pull out from their socket. They couldn’t stop staring at me which gave me a bit of happiness, I have never felt this way before. Soon, a young man stepped out of the gathering wearing a sweater that covered his hair with his hand tucked in his dirty jean trouser pocket.

“I’m Leonard, King Moses Darvon asked that I return with his new wife immediately,” he said making some kind of courteous expression at the calling of the king’s name.

My lips paused and I was confused. The room was filled with chatters.

“What do you mean?” my father asked.

“What do you think?” the man snarled and my father fell silent.

He was asked to bring me back to the king’s palace.

Him?

Looking so haggard and rough. I knew I wasn’t worthy but why should he give me such a reception when he hasn't even seen me before?

I was dissatisfied yet I couldn’t air out my opinion. He intentionally made a mockery of me and I couldn’t lift my face from the ground I was staring out.

The shame and embarrassment were too much for one soul to take in.

“Fine. Here is a message to the king.” my father’s voice came up again, he didn’t sound bothered as Uncle Thomas passed the parcel to the young man.

At that point, I looked so pitiful. All my imagination started crashing down at its early stage.

Uncle Thomas shook his head sadly, he was also powerless at this stage. No one could stand against the Alpha king.

I left my father’s pack in shame, with a broken heart, and in pain. I was feeling awful that I was leaving but I also felt it was the best decision. I wasn’t needed and my absence will be their soothing balm.

I was dragged into the enchanting giant mansion of the Alpha king. The appearance of the mansion will definitely cause shivers down everyone’s spine. I wasn’t given the right to walk elegantly or access freedom, the two guards dragged me into the long endless-looking hall as different troupes of servants walked past us and bowed.

I have heard of the Alpha’s palace, but I have never visited it before - not even my father.

Fear started building in my heart. Was I really fit to be his Luna? My parents intentionally pushed me to my early grave.

The wide tall door spread open as we entered the hall. The sunlight flashed from a height touching the golden crown on someone’s head but the face was unclear because of the darkness and I was still far.

The room was isolated and quiet, every step we took echoed in the hall.

“What is this place..?” I muttered inwardly as my eyes wandered into the empty dazzling hall.

“Ouch!” I groaned in pain as the guards pushed me to the floor.

Then, I looked up right at the throne. It was one man. One hot Greek god. Looking all majestic. Intimidating aura. Cold expression. Arrogant. Dark hair. Electric blue sharp eyes. Pink matte medium lips. Great physique.

This was the king and I was staring at him face-to-face.

Why was he being identified as a beast when he was a missing hot devil?

“Your Majesty, this is the daughter of Lord Daniel,” he informed him and stepped forward.

I knelt like a fowl, waiting to be told what next to do. Fear won't also let me express myself.

“My name is….” I thought of introducing myself since the whole situation was awkward.

“Wash her off. I will have her tonight.” he interrupted me curtly and stormed out of the hall using the back door.

“What?” he was unbelievable, I was still staring at the throne which was now empty in a daze when some servants came in and dragged me out of the hall.

“Seriously?” I also couldn’t get provoked.

Was this it? Well, if that’s the case then he was a big beast.
