Chapter 3

Matilda POV

“Do you all take me for a fool?!” I barged into the living room where my parents and Hilda were watching a movie.

They were stunned and confused as they focused their gazes on me.

“What is the meaning of this?” my father fired in annoyance.

I had just broken the last rule which was never to step into the living room except I was being called.

“That beast asked to marry Hilda and not me. What kind of games are you all trying to play?” I asked them dolefully.

I couldn’t act fierce and strong even if I wanted to. I was just like a human because I was extremely weak and wolf-less.

“How dare you!” before I knew it, a slap landed on my face and I fell to the ground.

“Mum…” I cried out.

“You must be stupid enough to think you deserve my daughter’s spot,” she said in exasperation.

“But I already have a mate. I love him and you all promised to bless our union based on the phone call, why did you lie to me?” I asked them angrily.

“When will you get to realize that you are nothing but a slave and fool who accidentally took my face!” Hilda spat at my face in annoyance.

I was on the ground, crying bitterly.

“I... I really want to get married to my mate and not some king I know nothing about. He is mighty and needs someone like Hilda beside him.” I suggested to them frantically and my father slapped me hard.

“You are stupid!” he cursed me in anger.

“If I ever hear this nonsense from you, I swear I will kill you!” he warned me looking so scary.

“I will not repeat myself, you have no right to make a decision and have to do whatever I tell you to do!” he informed me avidly and I nodded sheepishly.

“Who is there?” my mother called with a loud voice and a gamma guard rushed into the room.

“Take her out and lash her fifty!” she instructed the guard and he nodded as he advanced to me.

“Make sure it is very hard, on her butts!” Hilda concluded the statement, the guard dragged me out.

I couldn’t plead and I didn’t attempt to do it because it would be a wasted effort.

I was dragged out of the living room to the wide compound, the guard pushed me onto the bench where I lay flat. He called some of his men who approached me with a big paddling stick.

It was going to hurt, I knew. This was something they do to me, almost every day whenever I pissed them off. I would have said I was used to it but it has been a while since I was last hit.

“Start!” the guard instructed them and immediately they started beating my butts so hard with the stick.

The servants were all over the place, witnessing the embarrassing scene. I closed my eyes and groaned in pain. I gritted my teeth in anger and gnashed in pain, it was hurting more than I had expected and I don’t think I could hold still till the end.

“35! 36! 37!” another guard was announcing the number of strokes I have been given, I was already losing consciousness.

Everything suddenly turned blur as I could only hear my groans and my heart aching in pain, eventually, I fainted.

I gradually opened my eyes and found myself on the bed, I felt sore all over and aches to make life miserable for me. I turned sideways and saw Uncle Thomas seated beside me on the wooden chair, he smiled and placed a balm on the table.

“Tilda… how are you feeling?” he asked me with a warm voice.

Uncle Thomas was the only one I respected and he also respected me. He was the only one that stood by me even when everything came crashing in my face. He acted the role of my father and he was reliable.

“I have warned you to stay clear and never confront your parents, didn’t I?” he raised a brow and I nodded my head skeptically.

“But I can’t do it. I want to get married to Tony.” as I said, my eyes were swallowed with tears that rolled down my cheeks profusely. I couldn’t control it.

“That’s impossible, dear. You are among the prestigious lady in Crescent even if you are being mishandled, you will never be allowed to settle with a lowlife gamma.” he spilled the blunt truth to me and I sobbed.

“I know, I know,” I said through my sniffles.

“You have one day left.” he began.

“Now, I want you to take your time and recuperate. Alright?” his hand softly caressed my hair and I nodded.

“Use this balm to apply on those areas, you won’t feel the pain shortly,” he informed me and rose from the seat.

“Uncle Thomas,” I called him and he stopped.

“Can you do me a favor?” I asked.

“With what?” he turned to me.

Uncle Thomas assigned a trusted guard with me and he helped to clear the path for me until I got closer to Tony’s chamber.

It was not far from our mansion since he was part of my father’s servant.

“I will stop here.” the guard informed me and left.

I sighed heavily staring at his room. The candlelight was still on and his windows were left open, I was feeling reluctant to see him again.

How would he react? I doubt he doesn’t know that I had returned.

The crickets and wolves made lousy and howling sounds that creep me out. The moonlight brightened my paths as I approached his room with mixed feelings.

I wanted to tell him the truth. That our future was bleak, we must elope and run away.

I can’t find myself loving another man aside from him. I was confused to find his door halfway open.

“Tony…” I pushed the door aside and stepped into the room.

Behold, my eyes spread wide open in shock as adrenaline rushed up my spine.

“Tony?” my lips curled as I closed my eyes and opened them to see if I was overthinking.

Immediately, he jumped out of the bed and wore his boxer and my eyes dropped to Hilda, who covered herself with the duvet.

Tony and Hilda were having sex. My mate and my twin sister.

It felt surreal as my heart shattered in anguish.

“I can explain.” he approached me and I stepped backward.

My eyes would never lie to me. What more does he have to explain?

Hilda didn’t look bothered, she had a smile resting on her lips.

This was her, always craving for whatever I own - and she has gotten it.

I stormed out of the room in anger, this was the man I have missed all these years but he didn’t seem to miss me.
