MATILDA'S POV

My heart raced like the speed of lightning as I ran out of Alpha Moses' chambers back to the slave quarters. I did not stop till I got to the slave's quarters, for the fear that Alpha Moses would catch me or send guards to bring me back to him.

The only time I felt a little bit of relief was when I finally got to the slave's quarters, breathing heavily with my hand, and holding my chest. What if Alpha Moses had caught up with me? What would he have done to me? I was certain that he would make good on his threat and kill me, as he had said before.

A few other slaves were still around when I got there, but many of them had gone out to carry out their daily activities, and I knew Eva would have left too.

I ran into the small room immediately and shut the broken wooden door. Eva was not around, she must have also gone for her assignment, which made my mind rest a bit.

After I shut the door, I rested on it, shivering out of fear for my life.
