My eyes widened, and my heart started beating faster.

I looked at him. He was scratching the back of his neck and avoiding my gaze.

“I mean— You don’t really have to— I was just blabbering my ass off. You don’t have to agree with what I just said.” He peered up at me, and I remained silent.

A panicked look went over his eyes, and I had the urge to laugh but suppressed it.

“Fuck. I ruined it, didn’t I? You just told me that we should stay as friends first, yet here I fucking am! I should have just shut my mouth. Did I make you uncomfortable? Sorry. Sorry. Really. Just forget everything I—”

“Sure,” I said to cut off his rambles.

“Yeah, yeah, sure. Sorry for that again— Wait, what? Did you just say ‘sure?’”
