Kyra-
I hadn’t been sure if I had wanted to be alone with any of them, but there was something about the way Zac was looking at me. It was like he knew something and whatever it was, he didn’t want anyone else to know it. I felt like the safest place would be the art room. Caleb had made sure it was soundproof so I could have my privacy.
After I closed the door, Zac didn’t speak, he just walked around the room and looked around. I was sure he was buying time. Moving over to sit on the couch that Hunter had put in here last night, it had been the one from his old office. It had made the room more cozy and familiar.
Zac continued to walk around the room and started flipping through the sketch pad that I had filled. I couldn’t see his face, as his back was turned towards me. The minutes seemed to drag by as the silence was starting to become uncomfortable. Should I say something or give him time to say what was on his mind?

Hunter-Snuggling up to Kyra, I could feel she was uneasy about something. Her mood has been all over the place since her brothers arrived. I was sure she was just worried about what was about to happen. Hell, we all were. I was trying to be strong and not let her see my own fears. She was already going through so much, I didn’t need to add on to it.The past two days, we have been busy trying to get all of the last-minute details taken care of. Her brothers had wanted to see what Kyra was capable of, so Kyra had spent most of the day in the new training gym I had built for her. As much as I had wanted to watch, I had other things I had to get done.We weren’t sure what time we were supposed to expect the Crescent Moon pack to arrive, so I had spent most of the day assigning everyone to the locations that would keep the pack safe. Zac had placed a blood-binding spell around the entire territory. It wouldn’t prevent anyone from entering, but it
Kyra-How could saying three words cause so much fear? It was like my throat closed up and I couldn’t get the words out. I knew how I felt about him. What if he didn’t feel the same? Was I supposed to say them? How does one even know when it was the right time to tell someone they loved them?I laid there, unable to speak, but knowing I had to say something. If I couldn’t tell him how I really felt, would I ever be able to? If I didn’t tell him now, would tomorrow be too late? Pulling my bottom lip between my teeth, I knew I had to just say it. It wasn’t that I wasn’t sure of how I felt, maybe I was just scared of how he would react.Taking a deep breath, I released my lip and decided that it was now or never. What was the worse that could happen anyways? Even if he didn’t tell me he felt the same, I was okay with it. I just wanted to tell him how I felt. It wasn’t like I needed anything in return.“I
Kyra-The digits on the clock on the bedside table changed and it was now five in the morning. After Hunter had fallen asleep, I had stayed awake watching the clock. Each minute that ticked by it felt like my chest was being weighed down. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t for the life of me fall asleep. As much as I knew Hunter didn’t like it, I slipped out of bed and put my pillow in his arms. He barely even stirred. If there was a way to keep him from the battle, I would, but I knew that wasn’t an option. Pulling one of Hunter’s shirts over my head, I headed to the door. Tiptoeing out of the room, I made my way to the gym upstairs. Where there was a shower and I had a couple of changes of clothes.Without wasting time, I took a quick shower and dried off. I looked at my reflection in the mirror and I knew I couldn’t face everyone like this. Their morale was already down and if I show up with doubt and concern written all over
Kyra-I left Rex standing in the foyer. I wasn’t really mad at what he did, more where he did it. Just because I wanted to create memories, doesn’t mean the first one needed to be of the blood that would probably stain the wood. Maybe I could have cleaned it up, but what I really needed to do was get out into the fresh crisp air to clear my head.I found Alec waiting on the bench at the field and I was debating on turning around and going for a walk. With him being an empath, I was pretty sure he would pick up on how I was feeling. I stopped walking and couldn’t seem to make up my mind what to do.“You might as well come to join me, I can already feel your emotions. They are practically screaming at me.” Alec said, looking up from his phone.“That bad?” I asked after making my way to sit on the bench next to him.“Yeah. You know, things may not happen the way you think they will. I may not know what i
Hunter-“Do you think maybe he got the date wrong?” I heard Brett ask.We have been sitting in the tree for over twelve hours. I was starting to become stiff. Kyra had fallen asleep and was leaning against me. I knew she was tired, I was pretty sure she didn’t sleep at all during the night.“I don’t know. If they don’t show soon, it gets difficult for us. Everyone is growing impatient. They are all hungry and tired and bored. This may not have been the best idea.” I told him.“Maybe, but it had been a good idea at the time. We were lucky that we had a heads up. We knew ahead of time, but we didn’t know when they would arrive. All we can do now is wait and just hope that we don’t have to wait too much longer.” Caleb added.“I don’t know how Kyra can sleep like this. My back is killing me.” Brett complained.“She has been in many worst scenarios. The fact
Kyra-As soon as Hunter took off to try to head George off, I felt a blast hit me square in the chest. I was thrown back and landed flat on my back. The hit knocked the air out of me but I quickly jumped up and seen a woman walking towards me. The scowl on her face made me realize this was personal for her.I could hear fights breaking all around me and as much as I had wanted to stay near Hunter, that wasn’t really an option right now. We were probably more than fifty yards away at this point and while he was going head to head with George and a couple of other wolves, I had to deal with this witch.I watched as she threw up her hands and just in the nick of time I was able to deflect the gust of wind she threw at me, using the wind as well, mixed with a bit of my energy. The look on her face was confusion, then replaced with glee.I didn’t take the time to scrutinize her as I fired off another blast at her. It knocked her down and for a seco
Kyra-It was like my entire body was about to burst. The energy that I was pulling in was so raw and intense that I didn’t know how much more of it I could take. At the same time, I had never felt more energized, more alive in my entire life. It was like life was being breathed into me, I felt like I needed more and more of it.“Kyra! Stop!” I heard someone say.I didn’t recognize the voice, it was filled with so much pain that it was nearly impossible to know who it was coming from. I kept pulling in the energy like it was made for me. The force that had been pinning me to the tree vaporized and I was no longer being held against my will. Yet I was still off the ground like I was floating.“Kyra! You need to stop!” I heard the voice again, this time it sounded weak.I looked around and I saw everyone had dropped to their knees and were doubling over in pain, everyone except the enemy. It took a minute for our en
Hunter-In the blink of an eye, I watched as Kyra vanished from sight and there was nothing I could do to stop it. I should have kept a closer eye on her. The minute the battle began, my only objective had been to destroy George. Everything had gotten out of hand and it had been impossible to keep track of her. From the looks of things, there were way more than two hundred in the army he brought. We had probably only taken out fifty before reinforcements arrived. I hadn’t been fast enough to get to her, but the last thing I expected was for her to vanish. Without even a moment to process everything, I was tackled by a wolf and it had managed to take a chunk of flesh off my shoulder.Pushing the wolf off, I got on my feet at the same instant it lunged at me. Pulling my fist back, I slammed it into his snout and he fell to the ground. Rage boiled inside me and I felt like I was no longer in control. Straddling the wolf, I bent over to snap its neck and I loo
