Chapter 142

The digits on the clock on the bedside table changed and it was now five in the morning. After Hunter had fallen asleep, I had stayed awake watching the clock. Each minute that ticked by it felt like my chest was being weighed down. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t for the life of me fall asleep.

As much as I knew Hunter didn’t like it, I slipped out of bed and put my pillow in his arms. He barely even stirred. If there was a way to keep him from the battle, I would, but I knew that wasn’t an option. Pulling one of Hunter’s shirts over my head, I headed to the door. Tiptoeing out of the room, I made my way to the gym upstairs. Where there was a shower and I had a couple of changes of clothes.
