WillowWe drive, we stop. Over and over until I lose complete track of time and direction. Whenever I asked a question, Cara would just remind me that I was safe and most importantly, away from Zane. They hadn’t hurt me so far, but it didn’t mean they wouldn’t. Cara and I were not exactly friends when my Dad was running the pack, and I definitely didn’t understand why she was here. The van comes to a stop. Seconds later, the back doors swing open and Addie’s hazel eyes are flying in all directions. “Let’s go, let’s go!”“What’s gotten up your ass?” Cara demands as she pushes the bed I’m strapped to towards Addie. “This place gives me the heebie jeebies!” She shudders as she looks around. It was dark outside and we were half hidden by thick trees. My bed is pushed towards another van. It was the third one we had traded in as many days.I groan as they shove the bed in the back. My pelvis still ached like a bitch, but right now, Cara and Addie’s priorities were to get me as far away fr
Willow“You have lost the plot. Is this because Addie wants Zane? Is this some stupid plan to get me out of the picture?”“No, of course not.” She shakes her head as if I’ve just said the most absurd thing. “Addie is my cousin. My mum came here long before you and I existed and Addies’ mum ended up in Night Watch.”“So Addie told you I was at Night Watch and you both came up with this stupid plan to kidnap me and help me with my injuries in the hope that I will stay in Wintergreen?”“Exactly!” She smiles“You are delusional.” I hobble past her, ignoring the pain in my hips and my casted leg.“You can’t go out there. Not yet. We need you to be one hundred percent. They will just be reminded that you can’t heal.”“I am not staying.”“You don’t have a choice, Willow.” Her initial pleasantries were quickly fading. “We just need an Alpha in the pack to draw the power of the full moon each month, to make us stronger. You don’t need to be in charge. You just need to be present.”“What are yo
Zane“Is that Addie?” Stevens slows the car and frowns. I look to see Addie leaning against a van, the bonnet popped open, chewing on her nails. A giveaway that she was nervous and also normally a sign that she is concealing information.Willow isn’t here. Her scent continued much further on than where the van is stopped. Whoever it is that Addie is working with, they have split up and the other person has my little wolf.Addies hazel eyes dart between Stevens and I as he stops the car right next to her. Sheer panic written on her face. We were the last people she was expecting to see.“Engine trouble?” I snarl“Don’t be mad.” Addie mutters, holding up her hands to me as I get out of the car. She had chewed her nails so short that blood lingered on her fingertips.“What the fuck are you playing at? Where is Willow?”She curls her hands up into balls and drops them. “I’m really sorry, she didn’t make it.”She didn't really expect me to believe that, did she? I would no if she was dead.
Willow“This idea of yours is stupid! And you are even dumber than I thought if you think Zane is going to fall for it. He knows I'm not dead. He would feel it if I was. This," I point to my neck in frustration, "Tells him that.”“He loves Addie. He was going to choose her as his mate.”I feel my heart skip a beat but try to keep my face as unreadable as I could. Since when did I get jealous?“Even so, he made a vow and I know Zane, he doesn’t give up until he gets what he wants. And if thinks I’m dead, he will want proof.”Cara waves a hand at me “Yeah, yeah. Addie told me the same. I don't buy that bullshit.”“Don’t you think if two people are telling you the same thing, it probably means they’re right?”She rolls her green eyes at me and turns away, muttering something about me being so dramatic.“What do you think he is going to do to you when he finds you are keeping me hostage?” I demand“I’m reminding you who you are?”“And I have already told you, you have the wrong person. Da
WillowMy heart practically falls out of my ass. I guess on some level, I didn’t expect him to find me. Cara was ahead of his moves, constantly having me moved.Happy would be the wrong word, but I knew I felt safer around him.Zane’s onyx eyes stay on me as he tells Stevens to arrest Cara. Cara puts up a fight, screeching something about Zane making a mistake as I stay rooted to the bed.It takes Stevens all of thirty seconds to remove her from the house.“And put her with the other one.” Zane calls out as he steps towards me. My breath hitches in my throat. “Let’s get you home.”He removes the tray of food and frowns at my casted arm. The frown deepens when I pull back the sheet and he sees my leg.“You should have seen me a few days ago if you think this is bad.” In this light you couldn’t see the ugly yellow bruises that still littered my body.A growl rumbles through his chest. “You’ve gone back to not healing.”I shrug my shoulders because I still didn’t understand how my back h
ZaneWhen I pull away, her caramel eyes hover on mine and her lips remain parted just a little. She seemed surprised by her own response more than what I had done. Her wide eyes thin to slits. “It doesn’t hurt.” She wiggles her fingers and then her toes. “It doesn’t hurt anymore.” She mutters again and her eyes shift to me. “Because of what you said before? About being true mates?”“Yes. But that doesn’t mean I want to test the theory.” I warm her. I didn't need her trying stupid shit just to see if she would heal. She tips her face down, trying to hide the tiny smile that lingered on her lips.“How did you find me? Cara was giving me something to stop you linking me.”“Your scent.”“You could still scent me?” She sounds surprised.“Your scent is stronger since I claimed you, little wolf. I’ve been everywhere that you were taken too.”Willow turns on her side as I take the seat, waiting for the doctor to come back. I could see how tired she still is. She probably hasn’t had a decent n
WillowThe light comes in flashes. As I groan I hear Zane tell someone to dim the lights.“Better?” He appears in front of me and I nod.Somehow I had the best night's sleep ever and also the worst. My head ached, everything is bright.“I’m alive?”I hear Zane laugh, “Yes, you’ve just been in a really deep sleep.” His lips press against mine and I push him away. “Bad breath,” I mutter when I see him frown. “Why does my head hurt so much?”“The doctor says that the drugs you were being given can have that effect when they wear off. Give it a day or two and you will feel normal.”“Right.”“You are free to take her home, Zane.” The doctor smiles at me as I stare up at Zane. I wanted to know if he had killed Cara and Addie. The doctor leaves and Zane places some clothes on the bed. “They are still alive.” He tells me without making eye contact.I frown, I didn’t know how I felt about that, I wasn’t even sure if I would be happy they were killed.“You were going to claim Addie.” I speak
WillowI had been back a couple of days and hadn’t asked anymore about Cara or Addie. I had kept myself to myself, spending time in the bedroom drawing, using my art to escape my messy mind. I would answer Zanes' questions, though I would never initiate the conversation. And oddly, he accepted it. He knew he had to wait until I was ready.I pause to look out the window. It’s pouring down and big sheets of lightning shoot across the sky. The weather had been like this the night we left Wintergreen.“Do you think it’s true?” I ask when I hear the door open. I had been replaying everything Cara had said to me about Wintergreen and even though I had already asked, I couldn’t help wondering if there is some truth to her words. It takes me a second to realise it’s not Zane that I can smell.Turning in my chair, I see Stevens. Zane talks to him so he must have an answer too. “Do you think Wintergreen is still thriving?”His dazzling blue eyes hover on me. “Zane knows another pack that is l
