Skye's POV

"Hey, there you are," Keira exclaimed, enveloping me in a bone-crushing hug.

After days of grieving, I had finally started to feel better. It was Alec's visit that made me realize how messed up I'd become during those dark days. When he admitted he was still unsure about me, I was hurt, but I couldn't deny that I had expected that response from him. After all, I knew he still couldn't feel the bond, since the black mark on my chest seems to have intensified.

I couldn't help but wonder about the twists of fate. If I hadn't sought Alec through Soul Wandering, if our paths had never crossed, would the gods have granted me a different mate? Another person I could've learned to love, or would I have waited years for nothing?

"Let's eat. I'm sure you're famished," Keira urged, leading me to the dining room where numerous pack members were enjoying their meal.
