Alexander's POV

I sat opposite Laura, watching her as she stared off into space, lost in her own thoughts. I had hoped that our journey back to the hideout would have given her time to process the events that had just transpired, but from the looks of it, she was still in shock.

I sighed and leaned forward, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Laura, come back to me. I know it's hard, but I need you to be here with me, please babe." I said softly.

Laura turned her head slightly to look at me, tears still rolling down her cheeks. "I can't believe she's gone. I can't believe it's all over," she whispered hoarsely.

"I know, love. I know," I said, my heart aching for her. "But you have to remember that Annabelle died a hero. She gave her life trying to save you, and she almost saved us in the process."

Laura shook her head, disbelief and grief etched on her face. "I know, but it still doesn't make it any easier, how will I even tell my parent?" she whispered.
