“Finally,” the parasite said when I felt a sharp tightening in my chest. It wasn’t intense pain like what Chloe felt when her asshole ex-mate started betraying her that last night at Broom StiXXX. It was like my heart was hammering strongly in my ribcage, and my breath was caught in my lungs, but there was some lining of pleasure mixed in. An adrenaline rush was the closest thing I could think of to describing it.

I knew instantly what it was. Chloe was with Miles. I smiled at myself, pleased with my plan. I didn’t feel any resentment at all. A peace was settling over me as I finished telling Billy how to set up for our little demonstration.
