Chapter 54.

The stables were empty and all the horses were out on the fields. We walked past the boxes and out on the back where there were stacks of hay piled all around.

We climbed up on a ladder and looked at each other, both of us laughing as we pushed off and landed on the soft piles.

I clutched my stomach when I couldn't stop laughing. They grew louder and I couldn't help myself as I rolled over.

I sat up and looked at Emma. She was laughing too but hers died down. I couldn't stop. I continued laughing hysterically and my cheekbones were starting to ache.

Emma looked at me worriedly and moved closer. My eyes started watering and my stomach contracted even more.

”Selene?” Her voice was soft and caring and her hand reached out. My hands were grasping onto the hay and I shook my head.

The laughs gradually turned to cries and the loudest sob started uncontrollably overtaking me.

The tears ran and I was screaming. My mouth parted widely and I was pulling my hair.
