CHAPTER 42

((Flashback))

Alex hit his head against the table three times before letting out a tired groan.

He slouched in his chair, eyes glazed over as he stared at the mountain of paperwork before him. Each form seemed more tedious than the last, draining his enthusiasm with its monotony. The ticking of the clock echoed the seconds lost to mind-numbing tasks. His pen moved mechanically, filling in blanks and checking boxes with a robotic precision. Outside, the world bustled with life, while he remained imprisoned in a realm of contracts and regulations. A heavy sigh escaped his lips as he yearned for an escape, his day's energy sapped by the relentless boredom that clung to him like a suffocating fog.

"I probably deserve this don't I?", He asked the empty space. He knew his father tended to do a lot of work everyday, but he didn't know it was this bad. How was their pack even still functioning? They barely had the basic necessities.
