Chapter Twenty Nine

On Monday, I was just lazing around at home, not doing much. Suddenly, my phone started to ring.

I wondered, "What does she want? I hope the investigation ends well for me."

I picked up the call and greeted, "Hello, good morning, ma."

"Good morning, Harper," she replied. "How are you?"

"I'm fine," I answered.

Then she said, "Can you please come to the office?"

"Sure thing, ma," I agreed.

I quickly went to freshen up and get ready for work. I wanted to do my best to show that the suspension didn't affect me.

So, I applied some light makeup and dressed in a simple yet classy outfit.

I checked myself in the mirror and felt good about how I looked. Then, I went outside and hailed a cab. I had my fingers crossed that my car would be fixed soon, or maybe I'd even get a new one.

The cab ride to the office seemed like it was taking forever, and I couldn't help but think about the upcoming meeting with my boss. The anticipation was building up inside me.
