Chapter One

As I rush out the door, I grab my coffee cup and take a sip, feeling the warmth of the liquid spreading through my body.

Today's not starting out great for me. Traffic on the streets of New York is a bitch. My exams start at 9:00am and it's 8:20 am already.

By the time I make it into the school premises, I have just 15 minutes to get to the exam hall.

As I walk through the crowded halls of my university, I feel my heart racing with nervousness. I have to do well on these exams if I want to have any chance of landing a good job after graduation.

I glance at my wristwatch - a gift from my best friend- seven minutes more. On this thought I feel a sharp pain in my head as I bump into someone.

"Oh my goodness! I'm so so sor…" I say as I look at the victim of my clumsiness and then I see his face.

Dammmn!

It should be illegal to look this hot.

He is tall, with broad shoulders and a lean build that speak of athleticism.

His chiseled jawline is accentuated by a hint of stubble, and his piercing blue eyes seem to stare right through me.

His dark hair is styled in a messy yet perfect way, and his lips, gooshh his lips, they looked like they were made for one purposes; to kiss or be kissed.

I can't help but feel a little breathless as I take in his appearance.

He is dressed casually, but somehow manages to make a simple t-shirt and jeans look like they were made for a fashion magazine.

I can feel my cheeks flush as I realize I have been staring, and I quickly look away, feeling both embarrassed and captivated all at once.

"Maybe next time you might want to watch where you're going and avoid colliding into strangers," he says in a voice I feel everywhere.

What he says makes me pissed though. I mean, yeah I did bump into him but he should have moved away if he was so watchful and so I tell him that.

"Mr. Watchful. Maybe I bumped into you but if you were watching, you would have seen me and moved out of my way."

"For someone who was short of words just seconds ago, you sure got a mouth on you," he says.

I hate him instantly. Handsome guys are the same, egoistic jerks. My father is one of them.

"I wasn't short of words."

He scoffs and says, "You were literally drooling."

The audacity!

"If you think I'm going to stand here and listen to you accuse me of things I didn't do simply because you're hot, you had better think again," I say and stomp away.

I know, I know, that was dumb, but I had to get out of there.

I can't help but think of him as I make my way to class.

Students suddenly begin to rush past me and I remember I'm late and check how many minutes I have left.

I'm one minute late, fuck!

Damien's POV

It's been a minute since she left, but I'm still standing in the same position in shock.

Not shock at her words, okay, that was a bit shocking, but I was partially at fault for our collision but, shock at her body.

She's not short, she should be about 5.5 ft tall which is perfect for my 6.3 ft height. I'd still be taller than her in heels.

With how tight that skirt is on her hips, I wonder what kind of shape would be under it if exposed.

Now her face, it was her face that truly took my breath away.

Her features were strikingly beautiful, with high cheekbones, full lips, and a perfectly sculpted nose.

Her skin was smooth and flawless, with a healthy glow that made her look radiant.

Her eyes were the most captivating feature of all: a bright, sparkling green that seemed to change color in the light. They were framed by long, dark lashes that fluttered when she blinked, and they shone with a warm, inviting light despite her obvious displeasure.

I shake my head in a bid to clear my head as I walk to where I parked my car. I've never felt that way towards a woman.

I know it's not strange for a normal human, but that's the thing, I'm not human. I'm a vampire and I've been alive for 199 years.

I've read a lot of books and heard a lot of stories and facts about vampires. I wonder where humans got those facts and stories from.

What usually confuses me is how the humans got to know about my kind but do not believe we exist. Strange right?

I sight my car and I'm not even surprised to see students posing in front of it for pictures, it's an Aston Martin afterall. It's one of my least expensive cars but not everyone is a billionaire, right.

Yeah, I'm a billionaire. I'd be really dumb to have lived almost two centuries and not made that much money.

I press the fob with me and they all scamper away. My phone vibrates as I get into the car.

It's an email from an acquaintance inviting me to a charity event for people fighting against cancer. I'm supposed to even give a speech.

I hate these events; a gathering of rich men showing off their money, and their pompous botox-faced wives showing off their jeweleries, designer clothes and bags.

They can just ask us to donate the money to an account and have it delivered to the hospital or patients, whichever way it's done. I have to attend though, it's business too.

I start my car and it growls, I look in the rearview mirror and sure enough, two guys are staring at the car with obvious lust.

"Money doesn't come to those who just want it, it comes to those who work for it," I say to them like they can hear me and zoom off.
