Chapter Ten

For some reason, I'm nervous about seeing my face. I open my eyes slowly and what I see utters me speechless.

This isn't me.

This can't be me.

I turn disbelieving eyes to her. "Uhn uhn, you got that right sugar. That, is what I meant by real reaction."

"Darcy, what did you do?" I gasp as I stare at my reflection in the mirror.

Darcy beams with pride as she steps back to admire her handiwork. "I just enhanced your natural beauty, Mia. You look stunning!"

I can't believe what I was seeing. My eyes appear brighter, my skin is glowing, and my features seem more defined. I look like a completely different person, yet still unmistakably myself.

"I can't believe this is me," I say, still in awe.

Darcy chuckles. "Believe it, girlfriend. You've got the looks and the attitude to pull off anything."

I smile, feeling a newfound confidence wash over me. I never thought of myself as a model, but seeing myself in a different light makes me realize that maybe I have been selling myself short.
